Trying to find a grill

I'm trying to find a mesh grille like the one they have in www.ronjonwheels.com under "body kits" but they charge up like a mother *ucker. Grille-tech sells a similar grille pattern but they don't manufacture one for CL's. The only advice they gave me when I e-mailed them was to purchase the largest size grille they have which is specifically for the Ford f-150 and have someone custom cut it for me- only if the mesurement of my grill falls well within it to make sure it is enough. The F-150 Upper grill insert is 9¼ inches wide and 38½ inches long. Does anyone know if that is a sufficient amount of material to cut out a piece for an 01 CL-S. I think they sell that for like $60 compared to $360 grill from ronjon's. The grille-tech link is: http://www.grille-tech.com/detail.html?prodid=96
It is the "race style" pattern.
I need some feedback, if someone knows where to find a grill pattern like that please let me know... -freshCLS

I may be in the process of making a grill, but the verdict is still unknown.

THe reason its so much for the RonJon grill is he sells the whole grill peice to replace yours. The parts are close to $250 alone.

Before he was also doing it where you could send him your grill and he would put in the mesh for close to half the price, but I'm not sure if hes still doing it. PM him and see.

Alright, I'll see if he is still doing that. However, I will still be trying to search around for someone who sells sheets of that particular grill pattern or something similar to it. Thanks for the feedback. I'm actually brand new to the CL scene, I just recently bought a 2001 CLS with nav. it is in my boy's shop being blessed. It should be out in about a month or two, yet you know what happends when you tell your friends to do things. If it comes out the way I envisioned it, it should be cool. Hey 1killercls that's a nice grill, yet I would have to do a hell of a custom job to make that fit.

Grill

That's a HOT GRILL.

I just installed my $2.53 gutter guard aluminum mesh grill, to my black 01; looks really good. Takes a lot of time to trim correctly. One hint- cover your chrome ring with masking tape while working, cause it's real easy to scratch it badly. If you line the inner grill with black tape, you also prent marks, and you can easily return it to stock. Took me about an hour and 15 minutes to complete. Pictures later today, maybe.

The aluminum looks good with the non-smoked heads and the chrome trim ring. Reminds me a little of the new Ford 500 front end (but much better).

If you're not good with tin snips and nippers, don't try this at home. If you want some step-by step, let me know.

Cool bro, I actually would like to see how your grill turned out. It's always good to know how to do things the right way so some instructions will come in handy. Peace...

i'm actually trying to find the same thing...unique grille patterns...kinda like the Denali grilles...and i'm NOT doing gutter guard/chicken fence stuff; it's horrible (no offense)

i do remember ronjon offering just the grille insert, but now he's selling the whole thing on the site for $3something...not sure if the insert is still avail...

That's funny that you say that because I was just browsing his site yesterday and I could'nt find the insert. I'll probably contact him to see if he still offers it. But first I will try mclarenf3387's idea to see if he will put the mesh on mines if I send it. If he does still do that ofcoarse. On the other hand, Shit I'll probably just do some Mcgiver work with the chicken fence and duct tape and call it a project. LOL.

I have access to a fabrication shop and was planning to build my own using a design similar to what RonJon made. When I get it done, I'll plan on posting pics and if there's interest, I'd also be willing to make additional ones (assuming you guys approve of the looks of it.)

Excellent idea. If it looks hot, I'd definately be interested. When they finish yours don't forget to get some close-ups of it.

Ron Jon grille is super clean and takes on a second to install. Plus, you can keep your original one, in case you want to turn it back to stock in minutes. IMHO its worth the money.

You need to use the [IMG] [/IMG] tags around the address of the picture.

You need to host the pic on a website first. Sorry, I thought you already did that. Send me the pics at mclarenf3387@hotmail.com and I'll host them for you.

Lol us000011, you need to find a host ONLINE for your pics. Photobucket i know a lot of peeps use. Once you have loaded pics to an online host then you can post pics here. Unfortunately this site does not host pics.

Thanks, Mclarenf3387; I'll set up my own host site via my provider this week.

I am a Manager with an automotive electronics company, running computer data and quotes for the OEMs every day, 59 years old, and a 17-year old from New Jersey has to show me how to post a stupid picture. Please let me know if I can return the favor!

Note that it doen't look like chicken wire! Yeah, it's gutter guard, but it's premium, "flat" aluminum mesh. Be careful in your selection, as some of it is punched at an angle. I looked at the APC grill mesh, Advance Auto, $30.00, and it was NOT flat. When you trap it between the plactic sections of the grill, it may damage your pieces so you can't return to stock.

My section came from Ace Hardware, and at @.50, looked better than the APC material.

Grill Detail

Possibly- I'm putting in the PIAA 19224 bulbs on the road lamps, but I saw a post recently about "melting"! that may change my mind. If they melt the casings, I'll put in the fake vents and then move the wiring to some real lights in the big scoop area matching the HIDs, so I don't want to fill in with a grill quite yet.

Besides, right now my 3rd car- 95 Legend- needs rotors, and that takes priority.

I love driving this CAR!!!!!!
