so my trunk will only open if i reach into the trunk form the backseat and pull the manual release.
i suppose the trunk latch motor (???) is busted.
does anyone know what my next step should be... what part do i need to purchase and replace? part number?

Open glovebox.

Look on left side of glovebox when opened.

Look at switch on left side.

Flip switch.

Thank this post on bottom right hand side if it worked.

It should open with the key fob button. If it doesn't then the switch inside the glove box is not the problem.

The "trunk latch motor" used to pop the trunk may have come loose. Take off the plastic cover and see if any screws are missing. Also with the trunk open and the plastic cover removed use the key fob and listen for a click sound and see if the motor arm is engaging the trunk latch.
My motor has come loose too many times to count.

Checked before and the switch in the glove box is not the issue. I have stripped the trunk lid and when listening very closely, I can hear a faint tick when I press the trunk release on the key fob, but no mechanical sounds of anything engaging or moving and no visible motion whatsoever. Hmmm... If I can hear a tick, does that mean the motor is not dead but can still be broken?

Werd. Trunk will still open with fob when it's locked in the glove box.

Does the trunk work when you try to open it via the release on the door?
