Transmission Jerky?

Anyone noticed your CL Type S bucking or jerking a little bit when you take your foot off the gas while cruising at around 40-50 mph in 4th or 5th gear? Also, I noticed that every once in awhile, as you slow to a near stop, and then begin to accelerate again (for instance coming to a stoplight just as it turns green), it kind of jerks into second gear. Maybe I'm being picky. Is it just the nature of a sportier geared transmission? Just want to make sure so I can make the dealer fix it, if I'm the only one. Thanks!

Do a search for tranny and transmission and read some posts to see if you are talking about the same symptoms others have had.

Also, you can always take it to the dealer and ask that a tech go for a ride with you so you can explain what you are feeling.

I have the EXACT SAME THING happen to my car and it is driving me up the wall. It doesnt happen all the time, but it is common enough to seem like a problem. Please post anything you may find on this topic. I am going to take it in for service if this BS keeps up. But how do you explain this to a technician....especially because all problems always disappear when you take the car to the dealer.

Yet one more good reason to get a 6 speed manual. I'm getting bored with this automatic.

yes, this happens when you come to a stop sign and don't come to a complete stop and hit the gas. it's supposed to be normal.

Hey guys,
This has been brought up and explained several times before, but I'll sum it up the best I can.
The jerking you are feeling is most probably the lock-up torque converter in the tranny intermitently locking and unlocking especially at 40 mph+ cruise. Almost every auto tranny since the mid 90's has a form of this.
In our car the gear ratios are quite tall in the upper gears. This combined with the "Grade Logic" learning computer control we have, will either lock up and save gas at low load, or if your going downhill your car will know it and not go into overdrive thus creating "Engine Braking" (kind of like when you downshift a manual tranny to brake.)
Sometimes when you drive iratically (gunning to 50 mph and then coasting) like myself, the tranny is going WTF and can't decide what it is you want from it. This is part of the "Manu-Matic" part of our tranny.

Not to flame anybody, but it seems like alot of people that buy cars know very little about what features and benifits that product has.
The Sales people know virtually nothing about what they sell and the service department is a bunch of computer reading parts replacers.
If your ecu throws a code and tells them where there is a problem, then they will replace it. But just don't ask them how anything works, they don't know. They just see what the customer complains about.
Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it's wrong/broke/faulty etc.
Go and have your Dealer check it out. I'll be suprised if they find anything or can give you a reasonable expanation like above.
If OK, then tell the dealers General Manager that his Sales force is lacking product knowledge, your Salesperson never explained anything to you. You will not buy from them again, until he takes steps to educate his crew, so we can be more educated and know what to expect from the product we buy.
Because a few people out of tens of thousands have had problems with their tranny (most of whom seem to post here) it seems the paranoia of the month is trannys.

Thanks for explaining that. It makes sense to me. I agree that the salespeople do not know enough about these cars, or any cars for that matter, and sometimes the service people don't want to take the time to explain. That's why I like forums like this. Thanks again.
