took res cover off...

not sure the name of it but the metal piece on top of the engine that the so-called "res" mod 'would' have replaced...anyways, after i took it off, the cover had all this grim underneath it as well as on the gasket....also in the chamber(air plenum i assume) that the cover covers up were small pools of some kind of oil and some grim...cleaned it all up but anybody have an idea why it got so dirty and why oil was in the chamber?

I can re-route the EGR ports to be dissipated in the atmospher. No Check Engine light, but is it worth it?

From what I understand, recirculating some of the exhaust gas has the side benefit of keeping the combustion temperature cooler allowing the use of higher compression and more advanced ignition timing.

Do you think Elite's buildup causes power loss by hindering the air flow?

my car is not breathing properly at all...thats why i checked to see if anything was wrong...adjusted the intake couple times...my lower bracket on the intake that connects to the metal frame is broken...so i have adjusted the sleeve that connects the intake a couple times...sometimes the car runs stronger the next time out then i seem to lose the power again...and the intake is still connected properly the whole time...i dunno whats going on....anyways on a side note i noticed the 2nd stage lever/flap(?) when i had the cover off...what would happen if we removed the flap so that air is always going into the 2nd induction?...just curious

you'd loose alot of torque down low and when you got above 3800 the power would come back on...
