Took 2001 Mustang GT

This win was well deserved. My buddy has a 2001 Mustang GT. We always ran neck and neck on the highway, I could actually pass him once I got up to 5000 rpm in 4th gear when VTEC comes back, but he always kills me off the line. Anyway last month I installed springs, headers, sways, and axle-back exhaust from Comptech. Around the same time he put a 3.73 rear end (I think-not sure on ratio) in. He always swore their was no way I would be able to touch him with that rear-end even with my mods. We finally got some dry roads today and were going out to the boats for some gambling and started running the cars pretty hard. Let me say that he was pretty disappointed. He hung with me through 4th until the VTEC hit then it was no contest, I didn't smoke him but I just pulled away from him every time easily. I really smoked him when I could stay in 3rd. On the way home we hit a red light and he still got a small jump on me but I had him before I hit 3rd, then just pulled away more. Back home he says "I don't think my car runs as good in this cold weather" Yeah right.

My car=2001 Cl-s
His car=2001 Mustang GT automatic

Strange...I raced a 00 GT Convertible on the highway and he kept up pretty well where I walk away from CLS with I/H/E.

I assume a V8 can hang with a V8 at higher speeds while I would think a CLS6 with i/h/e can definitely hang with you from a stop (even just for a little while) even with all your dinan stuff.

I agree, the CLS with I/H/E is a very fast car off the line...I thought I read that the CLS hit VTEC in 4th thus putting the CLS in the 130ish range at which point the GT would have been 5 cars or so ahead by this point, right?

I remember when my TL would do very well against many cars til that damn 4th gear and a stock VR6 would catch me.

hmm...

What kinda tires on your ride? Your buddy has a '01 GT or a V6?

Seriously though, that's pretty freaking slow for a 'GT with 3.73... 4th gear VTEC too, what speed was that? If you had an '03 6mt, it would be a lot easier to believe...

Engages at 5300 RPM...check with dealer's manual or a VTEC controller.
