Tint on Silver CLS
Tint on Silver CLS
I was quoted $195 to get the sides and back of my Silver CL-s tinted with Cool Chrome silver/reflective film.. It's $165 with a charcoal film. My friend went to this shop and his car looks excellent (granted it's black film on a black car) ... but it's definitely done right.
Any comments/suggestions? I'm in the Baltimore/DC/NOVA area..
Thanks

danny25, can you show pics of your car, including the exact film and tint you have? ... there are so many options.. i want to know exactly waht i want when i go in there.. youu too mc?
silver tint is reflective.. it's not dark, per se, but reflective so it provides the same protection and also looks better on a silver car.. reflective on black probably looks crummy.. but reflective on silver is a nice match.

fuzzy, how so? ... not if the tint isn't going over my windshield... right now my detector is behind the dark film at the top of my windshield (ala TypeSKID's) ... i've wondered if that effects the performance of my detector.. but having tint on the sides i dont imagine has an adverse effect..
that's a good price...when shopping for a window tint, usually a higher price results in better quality material and install...
i have 15% tint (i think the brand is johnson) on top of my stock tint (35%?)...$250 for every window (but removed my windshield tint after a while cause i couldn't see at night)...probably got ripped, but hey, no bubbles whatsoever 2 years later

Read the info on V1's website. The silver reflective tint cuts the range of a radar detector. It a affects laser more then radar. Even if the windshiled is not tinted. The black regular tint doesn't affect it.

Make sure you bargain on the price! I am in the tint business and the mark-up is pretty good. You should be able to get a good tint for about $120.00. Percentage doesn't matter. I wouldn't go with a silvery tint because you will get sick of it. Go with a char/grey tint because it is more neutral. The silver will blind everybody on the road in the sun and the cops will be pissed about it. It's asking for trouble. Find out about the tint % laws in your state and go with the darkest legal.
