Ticking Valves

My valves are pretty noisy at idle. The car has alittle over 57k on it. Is there a need to worry or have them adjusted? Ill try to take a video of it tomorrow.

It's common. Some are worse then others. If you need to adjust them, then go ahead.

Ok. I wasn't too sure as all of the other J series I've known had less than 40k miles on them (J30 and J35).

How much does it usually cost to have valves adjusted and when should I need to do it?

When is a toss up, Like I said some are worse then others & some live with it.
The top end of the engine needs to come off. It's all going to be labor. Figure 4-6 hours labor.
I think someone did a write up on it.

I recall a previous thread basically coming down to that a well trained mechanic should be able to tell if they need to be adjusted or not just by listening to it.

what will happen if you don't adjust ticking valves? I noticed you said people just live with it. Mine tick, but you can't hear it from inside the car

Also note the fuel injectors tick. It's very common on Honda V6 engines. This could be mistaking for valves ticking.

.....and it is best to get an expert opinion instead of relying on sound alone. There are too many things that can be confused for valve noise (fuel injectors, purge control solenoid valve, etc.).
