$5 will get you a bottle of TB cleaner at your local AutoZone. Take off the intake tubing and spray it in there and wipe off any excess oil with a rag. That's all they'll do at the stealership.

I really hate that dealer! Just buy a $4 can if Gumout cleaner & spray the inside of the TB. Or you can take it off & really clean it. Since the TB linkage is right there you can just rev it from there.

Yes we do have a MAP sensor, however most carb cleaners are "sensor safe" anyway. They will tell you on the bottle.

If the car is off then the throtle flap is closed. do you need to open that and spray the cleaner in there also?

Ive installed an Icebox on my car and when i did i took a look at the TB, it doesnt look like there is much in there to get dirty. can someone explain what exactly get dirty?

contaminant build up is usually found in the TB bore where the butterfly valve disc contacts the bore. and directly adjacent to this location. if left dirty this will result in the valve disc sticking compromising throttle response rough idle and loss of power/fuel mileagen

usually this doesnt happen much as present day fuels the have additives to eliminate deposits. contaminents come with ingested air which is poorly filtered or with leaky (air) bellows which might allow unfiltered air to enter TB. inspect each 50k and if deposits are present, clean as noted above also check air box and TB inlet clamps and tighten/replace if needed. in dusty or salt ed locals contamination is more prevalent
