For those who are getting rid of the CL-s

I'm reading more & more posts of people getting rid of their CL for whatever reason (tranny seems to be a big one).

What cars are you getting? I've seen TL-S and BMW 330ci.

I happen to love the Jaguar X-Type. Haven't test driven it, but the thing is sweet. Problem is the Jaguar is an "old man's car". I'm 23!

(And no, I'm not getting rid of my CL-S).

the x type is nice...interior looks good etc...but do you really need AWD...it's only adding weight and using more gas....

Likewise...do we really need a car like the CL-S/TL-S?

We could all drive Dodge Neons <g>

The X Type is AWD for only one reason. Jaguar could never sell a FWD car. Unfortunately the platform that they were building the X Type on (Ford Mondeo aka Contour) was FWD. Well rather that start over they decided to simply run some power backward and technically be driving the rear wheels.

For the record, I really like the X Type. If I hadn't got the CL, I would have gone with it.

I sold mine for a 2001 Ford Lightning. I really felt the need for something fast and irresponsible.

I saw a silver 3.0 X-type a few days ago, had the nice wheels....it was ok but didn't look like anything special/too small (especially since with most of the goodies, the car hovers around $40k).

I'm going to chill for at least a year, waiting to see some of the upcoming models(other makes).

At first I was thinking an IS300 since it's the closest price-wise. It's not as fast, but I'm sure it's fun to drive and looks pimp with some 19s and the taillight covers. Also, Toyota autos are much better. Or a 330Ci, if I could get myself to pay the extra $10K, and can get an affordable payment on it. But now I think I'll wait till I get closer to the 50K mile mark and see what else is out at that time; something like a 350Z, RX8, or maybe even an MKV Supra (if we see one anytime soon).

I’m getting rid of my CL-S to buy another CL-S.

The next one will be required to have THREE pedals on the floor and a 6-Speed MANUAL shifter between the front seats.

I LOVE the car, but the Auto Tranny BLOWS !!!!!

I am think about selling mine or trading it. No major problems yet, but if I do...I probably get the new 2002 S2000 or maybe if I get lucky, the G35.

depending on my personal situation (involved with a money sucking woman or not) when i'm 25 (which gives me a little over 1 year),

i'm either gonna get a ducati or an s2000 for a weekender, or i'm trading in the cl-s for either a new m3 or sc430.

i'm leaning towards the sc430 right now, but this is over a year away.

i just got rid of my cl-s three days ago, it is not a well made car. too many problems, paint, a/c, tranny and for some reason it became a dent magnet. i like the styling and the in theory like the engine but if it is not dependable then everything else is null. I now have a '01 S4 and i love it, very sound, powerful engine, and great handling. not to mention the napa silk leather is incredible. for those thinking about dumping their CL, i wouldn't recommend a TL (same shit), look at german, it's a totally different feel.

I agree with davemathews-cls... try something german (BMW) if you're going to dump the CLS. I bought my fiancee a 325i for around the same amount as the CLS. I am waiting for the 2002 325Ci since there is a minor style change. I may give up some power, but at least I will have a well built machine. If only honda stop using tin cans for metal... remember the CLS is just a nice Accord Coupe (take it for what you will).

I liked the CL-S when I first bought it, and I still like it. Unless I see several improvements, I will be sitting tight for a few more years with my CL-S.
Just adding the manual tranny isn't enough.

When I see 300hp stock, AWD, and a 3-D Navi I will bite.
