I had on 01 cla auto Agean Blue Pearl and less than 100k miles and 6 trans replacements/ fixs later I sold that POS. NEVER AGAIN! it soured my whole outlook on Acura. The only Acura I would ever own again would be a 98 or 200 Type R..
You'll definitely get more responses from the CL section of the site. Car Talk is more for general discussion of models not covered by one of our forums... so off to the CL section we go...

Thanks for moving the thread for me!
I will try to do betternext time.

Oh ... Thanks for the welcome as well!
I am sure it won't matter now, but it is still cool to not have to see one on every corner like the TL. Not knocking the TL .... My wife has one. And at some point the rarity WILL show on the price as time passes. Maybe not now but 20 years from now.
Don't trans replacements have a 36k mile factory warranty? Kinda the same story as StonedCL. Keeping in mind the issues with the 5AT, if you're having to go through trans rebuilds THAT often, then maybe it's not Acura's fault in that respect. Maybe just a shoddy rebuild or bad work from an outside mechanic?
I think it is how most of us drive our CL's.
I agree that it is a common problem related to too much HP in front of the transmission. The auto guys should be able to pound on their's just like we can and it hold up.

The auto trans in my tl blew the third gear clutch packs apart on the dyno. I was at 293whp and 263wtk around the mid 5k rpm range. That trans did take a beating though

And once youre out of warranty, what happens? I think he made a good choice ditching it.
Look at it from another angle though.

But also.. If you blow six trans it is either you or a crap build.
