The CL has an electronic governor at around 149MPH, like everyone says... It cuts off the fuel momentarily... If the governor was disabled, the car could go past 150+MPH, I have no doubt about that as I have hit the limiter dozens of times in a row and it feels like hitting a wall or something, the car just chokes... There is no gear or air drag at 149MPH, that's for sure...

If the speed sensor is disconnected the vtec will not work and the rev limiter will reduce max rpm to 5000. The car does not engage vtec unless the car is moving. I am almost certain this is true on our cars as it is the case on many of the other Honda products I have owned.

It may work if you could convince the computer that the car was moving between 1mph and 147mph. In theory the car would continue to pull past 147mph but you would not be able to measure speed without an alternate measuring device, not the factory speedometer or ecu speed signal. I would love to know what a stock cls 6mt could do without a speed limiter. I would guess somewhere between 165-160mph before drag shuts it down based on my own driving experience.

In theory someone with a serious engineering and computer background could breakdown the computer coding and figure out how to remove the ecu speed limit. In theory it would seem simple to remove the coding for someone with that kind of knowledge. This is all assuming programming inside the ecu can be modified at all. I bet comptech knows how to do this but wouldn’t disclose if they did for liability reasons.

Let's just be safe and keep it under 147.

honestly, I hope you are on the autobahn or a race track if you intend to defeat the limiter.

We're forgetting the real point of this thread though.

Kholla is having difficulty getting past 135 to hit the 147. Anyone know why?

Hondata has tried and it is not possible to reprogram.

The stock Michelin MXM4 tires are V rated. A speed rating of V limits that tire to 149 MPH. Hense the reason for the electronic speed limiter.
