Take a ride to the wild side...
Well, the journey is never ending for me. I've done everything I possibly can performance wise and I feel like I'm not getting enough out of my car. I've set some money aside to do something I have not seen done to a CL-P. A swap.
"A swap you say?"
A 6MT swap that is. The CL-S 6 engine and the 6MT tranny. I've been searching vigourously lately to find the right prices for both. I'm also in the process of contacting places left and right of who can do what and for the right price.
The Plan.
1st, the engine. It will be modified to a 3.5 liter. If I can't find a place around my area I might just send it down to another state that can. When the engine comes back the tranny will be waiting with new parts already attatched and be ready to put in.
2nd, boost. There are Comptech Superchargers still lingering around, and a few left at Comptech. The other route is a turbo. I'm still trying to out way what will be easier. Comptech...40-60hp more...meh...easy though...or Custom turbo...100+hp...yay!...expensive and harder setup.
3rd, juice. This is the last thing to consider. But it would be fun to see what the engine can handle.
I expect the project to start around June. Keep you fingers and hopefully you'll see something good come out of this project at the end of the summer or sooner.

2014 TL SH-AWD Advance
I would think the wise money would be trading your car for a 6MT rather than doing the swap. First, it's going to cost quite a pretty penny. 2nd, your car's value won't rise much. 3rd, what do I care? It's your car, time, and money...hell, go for it.

Why not just sell your car, and part some of the swappable things out on it, then buy a 2003 6MT and bolt the swappable mods back on and build the engine to a 3.5?
Seems to me like it'd be easier, more sensible, and it would give you the opportunity to pick up a different CL.

Sounds pretty stupid to be doing a swap in a car that is readily available with the 6 speed already installed. I understand the TL guys because the 6 speed option was not available.

Comptech supercharger adds a lot more than 40-60hp.
S/C'er and headers added 100+whp to my automatic most likely even more on a 6-speed. I think Scalbert dyno'd around 330whp.

While this swap is entirely possible I'm just really not a fan of it.
There are so many cheap CL-S 6-speeds out there. I just don't see the need to go through the trouble and expense of doing this swap unless you're in it for the love of doing it. And by that I would imagine you would want to do all the work yourself (which you've stated you aren't planning on doing).
Unless you plan on keeping the car forever I just don't see why this would want to be performed. The car won't even be worth the cost of the swap once you are finished.
To each their own. That's just my

My car isn't really worth a damn to begin with...I thought about swapping to a CLS6 but I declined. There are only a couple in this state that I've seen that I don't like because of the color match up. I'm way too lazy to fly to another state to pick one up.
I have no plans of letting the car go any time soon. I've put too much time into it, so that's out of the question.
I just need a real drop, that'll be last unless I feel the need to put some Tiens on now.
EDIT: Come on guys, you know you want to see another beast on the board.

how about something crazy like another engine and transmission from a totally different model car? I would keep it FWD though to cut down on costs and headaches! I can't think of a better FWD oriented engine off the bat maybe the next person who posts can help with some ideas.
