a little direction in what i should do is needed.
i don't like the tail lights for my 01 cl. i am planning on smoking them whats the best way.
I also am planning on getting a new system. What you got and hows the quality and i am not made of money.thanks

 

Get the 03's tails and smoke them from the red down.
That has to be the best look I've seen.
Ilso I've tryied vinyling the whole 01 tails,and spent so much time trying to line it up,It was next to impossible for me.I wringled them up and threw them away.
If you had 03's and used the vinyl half way down it would go on pretty easy and look good.
Others use a can of vht transparent paint.(I think thats the name)
I just dont think it would be as good cuz it can get scratched then look like s!@#.

For a cheaper system: Pioneer makes decent HU for the money.
Hifonics brutus line of amps sound well and get loud for the money.
Speakers and subs, you usally don't want to skimp there,since thats makes or breaks tha finnal SQ.

 

Vinyl tail light tint is good, you can get precut kits on ebay for cheap, they're better than nightshade because you can remove them if needed, I've had my tail lights tinted with film for 4 years now and they still look mint.

System, RP has some good nuggets of wisdom, I'm running a pioneer HU and hifonics brutus amp, speakers it depends on how much u wanna spend.

 

Ebay tint? i heard people had alot of problems from buying tint online. how dark of a tint would you go with 01 tailights. i was thinking of getting the 03 head/tail lights their pretty sick but i havnt seen much on smoked 01 taillights any pics of what they would turn out like?

 

I sprayed ,not with nightshade, but they came out sick take a look at my pics if you want.

 

I got my precut vinyl tint from ebay (R-vinyl). I ordered the 87% tint which is the light one.

I tried to install it myself but it was very hard so I had it professionally installed for 30 dollars and it looks great.

I got my tint on eBay. No problems. It was cheap, easy to install and looks amazing!

 

i guess i'm the only one here who actually prefers the 01 taillights over 03,

but i would like them tinted or customized.

lol im just saying thats someone's opinion, not necessarily my own. It does give me more area to tint, mine is fully tinted. But i think tinted tails are best on a NBP, doesnt matter the shade.

 

I tried the vinyl tint twice and then gave up ( and Ive tinting the windows on a number of cars) do the spray tint and then did clear coats over it was really easy

I agree. Some may not, but when they are tinted out I think its a much more uniform look. Personal preference. I know if my car was black when i bought it i wouldn't have bought the '03's

 

on ebay they have two a dark like 35% and darker like 15% or 20% which one you use ?

 

nspec I'm with you on the 01 tail looks.

i did want the 03s a few months ago but recently the lush red has really grown on me and I really prefer them now. especially since I got silver so the red is a good contrast.

 

It was the darker one, but I thought the dark one was 35%. My mistake.

 

I have a 01 nighthawk black pearl and would love to have the 03 tails but it's too much $$$$---even used ones.

 

I want 03 HEAD lights cause i got the aftermarket grille, and acura wants 550 EACH LIGHT!!!!! no ballast no light bulb nothing.

search online part databases for 03 headlights or ebay.

 

So do I! Def go online to the Acura OEM website. They are like 180 each. Something like that. The dealership should price match if you bring a printed copy in. Call first though.

its true. each dealership is a franchise with their own seperate owners. They can set prices however they want. I have 2 acura dealerships in my city and one is always higher then the other.

 

That sounds bogus. I have price matched every part I have ever bought from the dealership. I would try another dealership to be honest.

 

again, that has to do with each dealership. yours would price match but progression's dealerships wouldnt. its totally up to the dealership's choice.

dude i agree i love my 01-02 All red on my Sundance Gold.....i did a 03 swap then changed them back
