Switchbacks

Well I was reading up on them on the 3g side and saw a few 2g TLer's had them too! Only saw about one CL with them in (futureman) and other than that haven't seen any others. Have you guys considered doing them, or are you like me and too chicken to open up your lights to black/clear the reflector and ditch the extra bulb?

I'm not really too sure what switchbacks are, I know that they light up orange, then change to white when the turn signal is engaged? Do this mean you have to wire the bottom light into them and thats why you have to take it out?

I'm opening my lights up as soon as I get some projectors on hand, so anything else I can fool around with while I'm in there, i'm interested.

I have the 60 led type 2 switchbacks(1157) from v-leds. 30 of the led's light up amber when signaling, and 30 light up white at around 6500K in color during normal operation.

Very simple install. Crank the wheel to the opposite direction of the wheel well you are working on. Take out the rivets in the front part of the wheel well, reach in there, and change out the old bulb.

FYI LEDS are polarized so check to make sure you have it right before you button her back up!

here is the original thread with pics. Sorry for the large pics, probably life sized lol.

^ Good stuff! I've been through that thread mannnnny times in the past few days and I've got to credit you for giving me the inspiration to want to do this!

However, V-led is sold out of 1157 bulbs apparently.. which just leaves the "other" company so many TL people have had trouble with...

To me, that is the point of the forum. You get ideas from others, and to share your own. Is the other company superbrightleds ??? I would try and find out when v-leds might get them back in stock. 1 very satisfied customer here!

autolumination and superlumination I think..Autolumination being the one that the 3g guys all had problems with. I think I'm going to wait for V-led to get them back in stock, although I hear that Autolumination may have fixed the wrongs that went out in the "Type 1" switchbacks..

Either way I'm totally stoked on doing this! I already ordered my resistors!
