Switchback caution

Just recently bought switchbacks and the 6 ohm resistors from AUTOLUMINATION.COM and had them installed by a very experienced guy in NJ who also cleared and installed my brothers headlights as well. So after installing my switchbacks and 6 ohm resistors the guy had told me that one bulb was constantly staying amber yellow and the other bulb was stayin white and blinking yellow like all of you know the switchbacks are suppose to do. so i went there with my brothers car and had him put one of his switchbacks in the headlight to see if it would stay white and blink yellow and it did. so i had emailed autolumination explaining to them in detail what exactly had been happening and they insisted on tellin me my mechanic wasnt hooking them up correctly. after numerous emails back and forth i even sent them a video of me testing the bulb and my brothers bulb tryin to show them it wasnt wired incorrectly and of course they said it wouldnt open it like i have nothing else better to do then to have some vendetta out against. After many many many emails i gave up cause they kept still insisting that my mechanic was doing it wrong and them bein very rude in these emails i just gave up so this is just a warning for yall out there who want to order switchbacks. if any of you know a place where i can get one of these bulbs would greatly appreciate it. sorry for the story but thought i would look out and share my terrible experience with AUTOLUMINATION.COM

try installing it by flipping it the other way around....or play around with it, or switch sides and invert it backwards and install it....I had the same problem but I played around and it worked for me

remove the 6 ohms resistor first and play around to see if it works before you install the 6 ohms resistors

I also agree that automlumination is ticking me off. I think we should put the word out to STOP buying from them. They get $1000s business from AZine. Why should it continue if their products are OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE and even worse than that THEY DON'T STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS??? Not having any type of warranty and a 1 wk return policy and that's it? That should be a warning sign in itself. Oh yeah, they messed with the wrong customer here. I am a dedicated LED modder and I officially am DONE with that company!!!! I encourage all of you to save yourself the risk! $50 for a pair of bulbs is steep.

But it sucks since they are the originator of the switchback. So where else can we get the switchback? Look out autolumination, no more monopoly, you have competition! You can get switchback right here now! I bet it is the SAME bulb and with shipping it works out a bit cheaper.

http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

I have had better service and better luck with this company. I have a set of DRL bulbs for the last 2 years that have been through so much and a virtually indestructible. The only problem with them is the seem to have the same warranty/return policy as autolumination.....If I were you I'd rather take a chance on a newcomer rather than a known failure.

I got mine from AUTOLUMINATION, as recommended by JnC. I havent had any problems whatsoever, but if you plan on phasing out the AUTOLUMINATION business, I would recommend telling JnC to stop pushing their product. JnC has a great reputation, so pretty much anything he says goes!

Go with V-leds.com. I've bought all my LEDs, including switchbacks, from them without any major problems. Jake is good about emailing you back if you have any questions/problems.

It's weird, my left signal light somethings doesn't come on. For example, parking lights off and signaling left, would only show my side mirror light blinking. So then if i turn my parking lights on, it see the white, but the yellow doesn't flicker. Obivously it's getting power. It works randomly and stops working randomly.

v-leds it is then. can anyone chime in with which one they ordered exactly and which resistor to use? Are the leds and resistors I posted in post 15 right? I used the resistors I found in a thread for installing them, but the op said the resistors he used were more than necessary

A Switchback is an LED that lights up white and blinks amber when you put on the turn signal.

JnC is a smart guy. I am sure if he has been reading all the threads he will see the switchbacks are having a high failure rate and he should be careful promoting the autolumination switchback.

V-leds is the place to go. Sorry if it sounds like I have some personal interest in their busisness but really i don't, just a customer that has had a better product from one place more than the other.

vleds doesnt have the 6ohm so thats why I asked if that one was ok.. so then the v-led switchbacks + the autolumination 6ohm deluxe would be fine?

my rear liscense plate lights from autoillumination blew out in about 3-4 weeks... my SUPERBRIGHTLEDS.COM ones are still going strong, just over a year.

V-Leds.. eh... i installed their LED DLRs in my neighbors TL.... they were terrible... flickered, sometimes threw the DRL warning light, and then blew out after like 4 or 6 weeks

SBL is good too. I have used them and I know Kennedy vouches for them too. They don't carry any of the newer 7443/1157 Tower LEDs that autolumination and V-leds specializes in though.

ive also had a problem with autoillumination. my switchback on my drivers side goes on whenever it feels like it. i emailed and told them that and got nowhere with it. i'm just going to deal with it and have it on whenever its on. i shouldve went with vleds instead, but i was afraid it wouldnt fit into the socket and vleds never replied to me when i asked them.

Websites like these have no 800 numbers or address. All they give you are email address. They really don't want to deal with you. They don't have to offer a warranty because they don't have to. There is limited competition for their niche products. Customer service is the last thing on their mind. When will more places carry stuff like this? I have dealed with Oznium a few times and they seem a LOT better. I wish they would carry some of these bulbs!

LEDs for the DRLs would have problems as well as HIDs. They are wired in series from what i can see in the wiring diagram. the only way to get either of them to work properly iw with relays and powered of battery and resisters to simulate the stock lights.

That has nothing to do with the quality of their LED DRLs and everything to do with how the TL DRL lights are setup. The TL DRLs for some reason draw a low & uneven current, I think something like 3 volts instead of the full 12 volts, thus causing the LED DRLs to flicker/not work properly. V-LEDs came out with a module to fix the Lexus DRL low draw voltage problem, but sadly it doesn't work on the Acura TL.

Yea you want to get 48 LED Towers and 6 Ohm resistors

I would also recommend installing the resistors in the trunk (much easier IMO than mounting in front)
