SUV advice

Okay guys, could use some advice on an SUV :

2002 or 2003 Infiniti QX4 ( used )
2004 Nissan Pathfinder
2003 Toyota 4Runner ( used)
2003 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer (used )
2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee ( used)

I am leaning towards the QX4 or 4Runner because of reliability. But I have gotten some super offers for the Ford, just not sure about reliability . I just have heard so many bad things about Jeeps that I think that is my least favorite although they look good.
Any ideas people ? or other suggestions. Need to try and stay in the sub 28,000 range. Wifes rules

New Nissans are tight.

The Armada is an excellent buy at $35K with a big powerful V-8.

I think the Toyotas are a bit overpriced.

If you don’t need a big V8 and can live with a 230-HP V6, check out the Toyota Highlander.
My dad just picked one up for slightly over 30,000.
It’s a great vehicle and has the added benefit of the “Made in Japan” Toyota Quality.

I have a '99 QX4 and it has been reliable so far. I have about 98k miles on it now. I use it as a daily driver during the winter. It's great in the snow. The only thing I don't like is the lack of power but I believe the '02/'03's have 240hp. Oil changes every 3k miles has kept the engine running well.

Not much difference between the Pathfinder and QX4.

I'd personally get the NEW Pathfinder or the 4Runner.

I liket eh QX4, but I wount not get one because of the lack of power.

Explorers seem to be hit or moss, either people love them or hate them. It is a toss if you ask me. But I myself would get the Explorer.

I used to own a 98 QX-4, not nuff power only 170HP, but the 2002-2003 has 240HP, but needs premium fuel......but ur used to that by now?

I dont like the new pathfinder, too boxy...

What about a used MDX?

My choices would be in this order:

1. Used MDX
2. QX4
3. 4 Runner
4. Pathfinder
5. Cherokee
6. Explorer

Chevy Trailblazer is nice too, id get that over the Cherokee/Explorer

240 hp sounds pretty good. It is in the 01s and up. Now all of them up to 00 were very slow.

I just got a '03 Mercury Mountaineer on 12/31/03 and they offered a fairly good deal on it. 35 miles and I paid ~$23K for it! Leather guts and standard third row seat. To equip an explorer the same way would have cost more and in my opinion the mountaineer looks better. Most people don't even think about the mountaineer so you may be able to find a new '03 still sitting around.

All the other competition came in another 8 to 9 grand more. Take 1.5 grand and add the best warranty offered and you are REALLY good to go.

The mountaineer is for my wife though so I don't know if the power would be sufficient enough for a guy. Coming from a Kia Sportage it is a HUGE improvement for her any way you look at it.

For me it would be between the used QX4 and the new Pathfinder. More or less the same car with some added luxury features.

In the end i'd probably say the QX4.

Oh and 8k.

Go with the Infiniti. I have a friend who has one and loves it. 4WD, smooth ride, luxury baby, and stock HID. If you tend to drive more than five peeps, than go with the Ford. I've got one and they improved over the years. It has heat/ac seats for the driver and passenger, and power third row seats.

Don't get a Jeep! Not only does everyone have one, but they suck! I know quite a few people who have, or have had them, and they begin to fall apart. Chrysler quality.

I agree with G-UNIT and Linner. Best all around SUV = MDX, it's an Acura!

Only SUV to ever go around me on a road course? = Cayenne. I'd be ashamed to admit it - if it were not a Porsche.
