SUV 0-60 in 5.6 Seconds!
SUV 0-60 in 5.6 Seconds!
A little news on AOL. The new Porsche Cayanne or what ever the hell they call it has 400+ Horsepower and goes 0-60 in 5.6 seconds. I don't think I'd like to get beaten by a truck.

I don't care how fast it though, don't like the way it looks at all.
the X5M as you say is already out, the X5 4.6, is actually considered by bmw to be ///M, if you were to purchase one, they mail you a letter saying 'Thank your for purchasing your new BMW MX5', however your speaking of the Le Mans X5 which will almost never see production, but an X7 with V12 is a possilbity
$90k for an SUV that'll never see any offroading but advertises itself as a rugged offroad vehicle is a horrible waste of resources. I honestly though the SUV trend was finally going to roll over and die (no pun intended) but I guess VW/Porsche feels that they have been cheated out of some market space. Personally I think it's a huge gamble since these ridiculously expensive trucks are not within financial reach of 98% of the population. And even with that 2%, they still have to compete rather heavily against the Hummer, Escalade, X5, Mercedes ML and G-series, Lexus LX / RX / and upcoming GX-series, MDX, Land Rover etc. etc. The luxo-SUV market is already saturated in my opinion.
Watch and see. I bet that demand for these things will be so low over the next couple years that the line is discontinued. The VW Touareg (Cayenne's cheaper brother) will probably do a little better, but even it's priced way too high. One needs to look only to the Lincoln Blackwood (discontinued after only 1 year) to see how fast something like this can flop.
Oh well. If I had that cash I wouldn't bother wasting my money. But I guess it's their money and they can blow it however they want.
Still though, if all they want is a fast truck. $90k = a little less than 3 F150 SVT Lightnings. It's not a Porsche, but it'll do a 0-60 in around 5.6s.

We just did a 2002 GMC Denali 4WD, 4 wheel steering, extended cab pickup that runs 13's in the quarter.

no offense, but the porsche SUV is gonna run circles around both the ML55 and the new X5 4.6
although i did see a new X5 pull an older lightning from a stop light
my uncle has a ML55 and we have raced sooo many times...i always win..i have even beaten him with my 18" chrome rims...
we also switched cars and raced too same results...
CL-S can beat a ML55 no problem.
this is taken from carpoint's JEDLICKA
"At the top of the line is the $65,900 hot-rod ML55, which has 342 horsepower and comes from Mercedes' AMG high-performance unit. It's for those who simply must have one of the fastest prestige sport utes (0-60 mph in 6.4 seconds). The ML55 has a more high-performance suspension and even wider, lower profile tires than the ML500. "
and this is from the Daniel guy, the reject baldy that cant drive for shit...
"M-Class : 5.5-liter, 5-speed automatic
Engine: 5.5-liter V8
Horsepower: 342 @ 5500
Torque: 376 @ -1700
Acceleration: 0-60 mph in 6.8 sec. 1/4-mile in 15.1 sec.
Top Speed: 143 mph
Braking: 60-0 mph in 127 ft.
Road Holding: 0.80 g.
Fuel Economy: 14 (City) / 17 (Highway)
"
therefor the only AMG mercedes model that we can beat, IS THE ML55

I have raced a ML55 (friend's fathers) a few times. Yes, I have headers, but I still beat it pretty badly. We should win most of the time.
The x5 4.6 is quoted at 6.4 seconds or so (I know it's a mag time, but all I have to go with). I think that truck may be a close race. Never raced one though.

I am not kidding...that will be my next car purchase.
and trust me when I say this, you will NOT find ANY car, that will be put together as well, or with as MANY features in such a TASTY package as the VW Phaeton....
and I for ONE, can NOT WAIT for it to arrive.

Pete, they are HOT trucks...do you remember the car and driver when the Scyclone beat the Ferrari 348 in the 1/4 mile?
AND it could carry around more kegs of beer than the 348 too! LOL
