Strange observation....AC and exhaust note
Strange observation....AC and exhaust note
OK I don't know if it's just me, but has anyone else noticed with the AC turned on the exhaust has a throatier note to it??
Probably a really stupid observation, but nevertheless I thought it was kind of interesting. The engine seems to be pulling the same RPM's, but with the extra load of the AC compressor the exhaust seems to be significantly throatier.
This is of course with the stock exhaust, with the exception of the addition of the Comptech headers at idle with the car in drive????

I think you're actually mistakenly combining the low hum of the A/C compressorwith the exhaust note. In the cabin they mesh together. Outside the car all you really hear is the exhaust note, which is pretty quiet.
Actually he is right... If you have an aftermarket exhaust it become very noticeable. Mine seems to go up a few decibels. If any of you have ever hear a lion do that purr/light growl thats exactly what it sounds like... sweet to say the least . Not at all ricey just a throaty, deep, purr.
Funny you mentioned this. I was going to a wedding about a month ago, and the valet guy (I hate them) pulled away. He took off fairly fast and I had the AC on. I noticed a throatier exhaust note than usual. Not noticable from inside the car but definitely from outside

I think that is a good observation, and actually it sounds pretty close to that (lion purring type noise), so I believe the headers have alot to do with the noise.
And it definetly does sound pretty sweet
Now if I could only get that to happen all the time, with the AC on, or off
