I'm having a fu(ken problem also.. The A pipe wont connect to the front header... The front header and the A pipe connection is about 2 to 3 inches off... I took it to a reputable mechanical that is known for headers and exhaust. He said the only thing he could try to do is bend the A pipe to see if it would connect that way.... Has anyone had this problem... Auto 03 TL-S.....

I wiped them down first plus it is in my basement. But regardless, had she seen them sitting there I would have gotten a scolding.

2"-3" You are kidding, no? we are talking about mm difference.

If they offered to bend it, why not, dp it!
Also, note you can bore the lower holes like 2X as it is done on the stock headers. And, all bolts and nuts should be connected before tightening. Then, start at the engine block nuts.

Will bending the A Pipe cause any problems. Will I lose HP...

Is the pipe pinched? if no, there would ZERO problem.

Did you complete the installation? What do you think after they are installed?

What do you mean by pinched?

It looks like the pipe that goes up to the rear header hits the oil pan. Also I would have to push the exhaust towards the front of the car... But if I push the exhaust foward then the pipe would hit the oil pan... Its a lose lose situation....

Wait a sec? did you check which header is for the front header and which is the rear header!!!

The front is slanted to back, the rear is upright. If you swap them it would not fit and you will have 2"-3" gap!!!

Check this first... you freaked me out on this!!!

Here is the feedback from TL_Diplomat about installing the headers and Performance Gained,
*********FEED BACK*********

Ok here is my my full story.

got my headers last wends, went to the shop on thursday, the power kept cutting off so it was frustrating as u can imagine!!

removied all OEM peices and replaces with Stone, when it was time to bolt the down pipe to the bottom of the headers it would only fit the front side, the rear was waaay off!!!!

so im like f******* so we switched the headers thinking maybe we are wrong, did that and it was off on both sides! mechanic said this shit if f***ed up!

i went nuts for two mins while i swas calming down we replaced the OEM peices and when it was time to take my car off the lift, the power went out again!!!

so my car was on the lift until the power came on and we could bring it down....

.....came home spoke to nashua, the best method is to hand tighten the bolts and get everything connected....went back to the mechanic it is now friday....i skiped work (no call no show ) the mechanic said hell noooo, i said hell yeaaa lol we got everything bolted together then the end of the down pipe and the cat converter were a bitch to put in, had to remove entire Exhaust piping and get it on and then replaced all the exhaust hangers (about 6).

***PERFORMANCE***

1st day: No Difference!!!

2nd Day: ehh i can feel the difference but not what ud expect!

3rd day! ahhh shiiiiiitttttttttt my car is a rocket on wheellllllllssssssss!!!!!

i feel a big diff in my car, now i need exhausts!!!

any questions please PM me!

Yousef

Since I have to be serious...

The enlarged stud hole is not for leeway in final assembly. It is to allow for easier assembly. Once everything it put together the stud would be centered.

yes exactly centered because the pipes can't be offset,,, but it should help for assembly but not for stress relief,,,

still waiting for somebody to measure a set of comptechs,,,, I feel like a jerk calling comptech and telling them I got a set of Stones (good pun here) and would like to see your offset...

Like I said, you get what you pay for. Pay for the best from Comptech and stop messing around with those cheap headers with bad alignment problems.

Nashua, I know your busy helpin out those in the middle of installs and such...Do you think you could organize all the important install info you have gathered/learned from the past few pages into a post I could print out and give to a mechanic to help during the install process. That would be helpful to me and I'm sure others who have their headers sitting in the shipping box.

Also, back to the cleaning out of the headers....I cleaned out the Front & Rear headers very well w/ WD40...but I found it very difficult to get thorough with the A-pipe as the pipes are very long. I wound up cleaning out most of the areas near the ports and spraying a lot of WD-40 down each pipe entry on the A-pipe. Is this suffienct for cleaning?

Most exhaust shops will have 2.5 inch crush washers. Just go by one or any decent parts store.

Nashua and I found out why the front header was about 3 in off. They sent me 2 rears...

1 more question. I used WD40 to unloosen up the bolts on the rear headers. When I rev up the engine it started to smoke. I don't see anything hitting the header. Do you think that the WD40 is burning and thats causing the smoke?

Mr. ,

Sorry for the mistake, sometime when you are shipping more than few headers it is easy not distinguish front header from rear header. It wasn't me who did the packing and shipping.

We are shipping you a front header ASAP.

Also for you guys:

The front header is slanted to rear. It follow the shape of the front pipe.

The rear header is more upright.

Please check what you have.

Thanks.

Nashua

Its just my luck of getting to rears... I was like this alignment is way off. It was hitting the motor mount. I was like there is no way that the headers are going to attach. There was about a 3 in gap...
