starting up problems and auto lock

since yesterday my car made a clicking sound, like when the battery is dead, when starting up. it clicked for a second and it had to turn over once before starting up. also on the same drive, when i finally arrive my doors were locked...and i never lock them while i drive. this has happened everytime since i've gone out. battery indicator says it is good, the color is green. car is almost 5 years old though....do i really need a new battery?

you think it's the alternator? now it's completely dead. it'll try to turn over but now the clicking noise is gone

Me thinks it's either your battery or a corroded connection. Try cleaning them.

If the battery is 5 yrs old yeah its time for a new one. My oringinal battery lasted about 4 yrs before it started doing the same thing your describing. Forget the indicator because I called the service dept at the dealer and they told me that the indicator goes off for some other reason I can't remember the reason they gave me at the time but when I described the same symptoms your having they said just get a new battery and that solved the problem.
