Jesus, takes off like a bat out of hell but can tell she doesn't enjoy those up shifts.

Can't wait for the 6 speed. Should be a mid-high 12 second car

That video was just cruising around on motor. Only wot was when I was spinning and even then I was slightly letting off not to hit the limiter.

I think my car will do mid to high 12's now.

crappy cell phone video but ,here is a 55 to just under 100 passing speed video.

Nothing new or fancy.
But I got a bunch for the swap.

I ordered a LuK flywheel. I only got it for 189 shipped so I couldn't pass that up when comparing it to the 500$ flywheels.

Any opinions on what's the best clutch and pressure plate options to use with it ?
I want something that will be able to hold atleast 400whp/tq.
A little higher whp/tq would be fine too.
I would like to be able to make more hp down the road and not have to switch again.

i haven't done extensive research on clutches, but i believe your options are few. XLR8 is coming out with a clutch, and then there's the clutchmasters (different stages).

Spec is also making clutches now, and they actually have custom pressure plates unlike previously when they were just using stock pp's.

I remember when I did my swap and i'm exciting for you just looking at all those goodies!

The problem with spec is that they do not offer a flywheel, and that is the part I want the most out of upgrading clutch. They make a flywheel for the tsx and 3rd gen tl tho. I am not sure if you can use the aasco flywheel with the spec clutch. Might as well go with CM or xlr8. I just wish there were more ppl running those to see long term results.

RP, another heads up, you're likely going to need spacers/washers behind the clutch pedal bracket for full engagement. When I swapped my car the clutch wouldn't fully engage without them. On the true 6 speeds there are basically boss's/spacers casted into the firewall behind the pedal

Not sure if xlr8 uses aasco.

The question I am wondering is if the aasco fw will work with spec clutch disc and pp. Only 1 way to find out really.

are the spec clutches sprung or unsprung. If unsprung for sure. Im running the oem sprung clutch on the Aasco lightweight without issues and im sure the spec would work as well.

Thanks,

So basically I might need to shim the between the firewall and bracket to get the slack out of the masters push rod.
Is that what your saying ?

Yes exactly, you're gonna need about 1/4"-1/2" spacer on each stud. So a few washers. HOWEVER, this will put stress on the bracket itself causing it to potentially crack around the mounting holes (ask me how I know..).

A better solution I found is to use a s2000 clutch master spacer adapter they make for older civics/integras wanting to upgrade to an s2k master. It is really the perfect piece for the purpose. This way, the slack is taken up on the OTHER side of the firewall taking added stress off the pedal bracket. I highly recommend it or you run the possibility of problems down the road

According to their site stage 1-3 are sprung and stage 4-5 are solid hub.

Did you attach the clutch pedal using the upper bracket to dash frame?

What one are you thinking of using? Other than the flywheel being lighter and it taking a little different approach to letting the clutch out i have no issues using the sprung clutch on the Aasco

Glad to see there's still a few OG's left like me, that are actually doing real performance mods. Keep up the good work! I can't wait to see it go 12's n/a!

I don't want to sound mean but joining the site in 2008 does not make you OG.

To be OG IMO you needed to join atleast before 2005.

No hard feelings but just because I joined this forum in 08 doesn't make me not a OG lmao. That's still almost 6 years ago. That kinda came out wrong I was tired when I came on here last night. My sleep schedule is all messed up.

I was meaning more along the lines of there's not many true performance second gen cl guys left, only a handful including you and I. People that are actually spending money on quality performance mods and have real builds. It seems like the past few years the crowd has gotten shittier and the mods are all typical bullshit stuff lol.

Been away for awhile because I just spent the last few months with my son going threw a medical issue that had us living at a hospitol a hour away for almost 2.5 months.
Made it threw my worst times ever and just starting to get everything situated again at the house.

So I'm going to start back on the car again soon.

Glad to see you back posting again. It looks like you just drilled out the spot welds to remove extra panels. I was at road america last weekend for the Tudor series races and it has motivated me to do some more weight loss. I started in the trunk. I tried drilling at first, but didn't want to drill thru both panels so switched up to a cutting wheel. Not sure yet if I want to remove the rear strut tower skins, but there is good weight to be lost there.

Did you say before that there is tar deadener under the wiper cowl? Do you know if there is sound deadening under the fender liners also? I am even debating removing the a/c. I'd probably leave heater to defrost windows tho. It might be a necessity to fit my headers so will see.

Hope to see you break into the 7 ' s soon.

Ah I wish I knew you were going, I would have said hi. I did not see the cl but there were so many nice cars. I was there Friday thru sunday. It was my first time there. The track and racing was amazing. I walked around the whole trackk multiple times. I had a few crashes happen right in front of me. One was the continentsl tire series on the straight before turn 5. There was a big crash right in front of me at around 150 mph. Some pieces of debree flew thru the fence and landed right by my feet. The sound and smells in person were amazing. I had so much fun, felt like a kid at Disney land.

Such a waste of 3days of texting and about 3.5hrs of travling today to look at a white on black 6speed.
the car was only listed with a bad engine and thought i had a good buy at 2400.
Got their and the whole passenger side was dented from the rear fender to the front.
i explained to the guy all i cared about it had a nnice body and the trans was good.
what a dink.

Yeah I think I'm ready.
The car is just sitting and that needs to change.
The trans in it now is totally done. I think it may have welded itself together.
Every gear position is a forward gear now.
Park, rev, neutral all of them. I got under the car and checked the linkage but all is good and you can just barely push the car backwards by hand.

Ordering all the rest of the little stuff I need tonight.
But for the clutch line stuff, I want to do it once and want to know what I should get from this/delete/and get better lines and what have you.

I'm sure someone could help here.
I'm talking about the stuff in between the master and the slave.

I'm also thinking of the CM fx400 setup if it will hold or some solid disc and a nice pressure plate that will hold my power and use a heavy stock flywheel to drag with.
I think twin setups are out of my buget.
I'll take all the advise anyone has to throw at me.

Since I've started going to the track last weekend I'm going to start updating progress again this time with the 6speed installed.
when the car was auto it ran a best 8.3 on motor.
I was constantly losing weight and couldnt do any beter on the motor
Since ive lost alot of weight an also went 6speed.
last weekend I Went 8.4 on the motor.
So feeling like some aint right I checked compression and im definitely relieved there.
All cylinders above 240psi ,2 were 245psi 4 are 250psi cold. Engine has about 7500 miles and broken in perfectly.
Next step will be checking my valve lash to make sure none are to tight before this weekend.
stay tuned for times, going to hit the track every weekend I can.

I find the manual easy to launch, but you need to get use to it.

Weight removal might not help that much because main issue is traction.
