SS problems

Today and yesterday, whenever I'm in SS mode, the tranny will shift on its own sometimes from 3rd to 4th to 5th......or 4th to 5th....or just to 5th. While that is happening the gear light is turning off. But if I down shift out of 5th gear, the shift light will come back on and the gear will hold until I shift up. It doesn't make any sense.

I know its a malfunction, I just have never delt with this before. My other car, and all the cars I have owned in the past have been a manual tranny so I've never came across this problem.

Any suggestions?

in almost 4 years working at acura, i've never heard such a thing.

one thing i could think of, is the shifter position sensor going wrong, (thinking you're back on D5, until you hit + or - so that the shifter sensor thinks you're into SS again)

I hate intermittent problems. They're a nightmare to chase down.

could just be a sensor... but you should have it looked at if it happens again

I'm just leaving it in D5 for now, I have to take my car in for the 105,000 tune up soon so I will do it then. Other than a "could be" sensor, the transmission shifts just fine in between gears.
