Springs voiding warranty

I know that to void the warranty Acura has to prove that what you put on caused the malfunction....but what about lowering springs, i heard it voids the warranty because it lowers the ride height and makes the car "unsafe". Does anyone know about this?

Should only void anything that goes wrong with the car that is directly related to the springs..............ie. crushed oil pan, f*cked up springs.

Well, that sounds rather foolish. Voiding an entire warranty just because the car sits lower to the ground is ridiculous...

Who told you.

Who told you that springs void your warrenty. I noticed you got your car at Rallye. They don't know anything about crap there. Don't get anything done their and don't listen to the people that work there. I'm puting comptech springs in mine also, maybe if we find a place that will install around here, we can get a good price since we have the smae car and will be installing the same springs.

I had my Comptech springs and swaybars installed at the dealer from which I purchased the car. It's on the records for my car that they were installed there, and it certainly didn't void MY warranty.

YOU HAVE MY CAR DAMNIT! i was hoping i was the only one in nassau county with the anthracite CL 6 speed but whatever. I was just wondering if it voided the warranty thats why i was asking if anyone had them and if it didn't void thats awesome cuz now i can go put them on. Instead of tires i can lower it, works for me.

I had a strut blow out and acura wouldn't cover that since the dealer didn't install them. i did however get the shop that installed them to warranty it and replace it. If I could do the spring minstallation again, I would pay the extra money and install them at the dealer. Its worth the peace of mind. I guess anything and everything in my suspension is no longer covered under warranty since they could say it's related to the aftermarket springs.

Yea, if you blow a shock or rip out the suspension by hitting a manhole in the street I could see the dealership putting up a fight.

But if the NAV system or seat motor goes, I can’t see how they could blame that failure on the springs.

If anything, the car is safer imho due to lowering. Anyway, when the dealer sells these parts and encourages you to add them, and don't warn you at the time of purchase or install, then there's not much to worry about.
