Some ideas before I take to dealer.....

I have a 03 TL-S and of recently a problem has come up and I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Sitting at idle, and when you put your foot on the gas I hear a fairly loud ticking noise coming from the engine area, and it definitely gets louder when you put your foot on the gas. After playing around a little bit more with the hood up it seems to be coming from the driver side close to the firewall. The weird thing is is that it doesn't happen when the engine is cold and it doesn't happen all the time, any ideas??

I thought the sound was coming from behind the driver side door, but the same ticking noise comes from the car.

I just checked on acura-tl.com and there are a bunch of posts on that ticking noise over there too, most of them were pointing to the fuel injectors. Well I will take it in to the dealer, and I will let you all know what I find out.

what is really weird for me is that the ticking noise started right after the install of my comptech headers...

I heard that sometimes leaves get caught in some fan, causing the ticking noise. My dealer told me that-

I called the acura dealer to set up a time to bring it in, told them what the problem was, and without hesitation the service guy said that it more than likely is an emissions valve that is mounted on the firewall, he has seen it a bunch of times and all they have to do is replace it, if that's what it is, it should take a half hour to fix. I will let you all know when I take it in on Friday.

Well some stuff came up at the dealership and a couple technicians were out last Friday and I had to change my appointment to today.

Had my car in by 7:30am and it is now 9:45am and the car is all done. The ticking noise I was hearing on the fire wall was a solenoid (I think thats how you spell it), the service guy I talked to didn't specify what one it was exactly, but they did replace it no questions asked. And at no time did they give me the line "that sound is normal". Above that they informed me that they noticed another noise coming from the front left ball joint on their test drive that they fixed as well. Imagine that, the dealer heard a noise that I didn't hear and they fixed it, that's a first for me! I have always been impressed by this delaership (Acura of Brookfield), I would expect nothing less.

So for all you that are having this problem, hopefully this helps!!

I've had this noise come and go. The only time I've had it happen to me has been during the winter when it's very cold out. Maybe I'll have my dealer look into it if the noise starts becoming a consistant occurance.
