so who's made the switch?
are there any drivers here that have had CL-S6's and switched to a g35? or vice versa? i did a search but didnt come up with anything concrete. i wanted to know if the g35 is worth the 10k price difference from the CL-S6
I test drove the G35 coupes a lot. Love the body, but that's about it. Low rent interior with more tranny and clutch issues than I care to hear about. Nowhere near as refined as the CLS.
I like the CLS 6speed better for value, great shifter, refinement, features, reliability, interior, trunk space, comfort, rarity, cost, etc.
The Gcoupe is sexy, couldn't blame you for falling for one. The new one out in a year or so looks even sweeter and will have more power to compete with the new BMW 335coupe (twin turbo).

A couple of members here have switched from an automatic CL, but I don't think many (if any) 6spd owners have done it...
If you want RWD, a G35 is one way to do it...
Try seaching on the Car Talk forum... That's when non-CL threads are supposed to go...

Ive driven my friends 03 G35 sedan 6 speed, I like my 6 speed more. He bought his used and with 30K he needed a new tranny and clutch (all under warranty). But I would take a G35 coupe over my acura coupe anyday
I owned a 2001 Auto CL Type S and sold it for a G35 Coupe 6spd but sold it after 6mos for a 1991 NSX with 29K. One year later I picked up a 2003 6spd CL and have never regretted by decision. The G35 was nice but man when you revved it she got Rough and the power seemed to die off. Just my 2Cents.

If you want RWD, then no... I'm a long time RWD driver and the CLS is my first FWD daily driver. I've only owned a couple of fwd cars previously for just a short time out of the 15 or so cars I've owned.
If you're ok with comparing oranges to apples (RWD G35 to a FWD CLS) then the CLS is a better overall car then the G IMHO. The CLS has a better interior, better trunk space, and slightly better gas mileage, all at a better price. The G is a better platform for performance, and also has a class leading resale value.
When I bought my CLS 6spd, I knew the G35c 6MT was going to be coming out soon thereafter. I didn't need to buy a car right then and there, and could have waited for the G to come out. But the interior, higher price, and overall styling of the G just didn't do it for me.
If Acura didn't make a 6spd version of the CLS, I'd be driving a 330, G35c or new Mustang right now tho'.
I'm probably going back to rwd for my next car.

IMO that car is WAY better than the G, even with the FWD (the single worst feature of the CLS)...

I've driven the G35 coupe numerous times and it's a very different car than the CL-S. The CL-S is more of a GT, very refined, smooth and comfortable w/ a ton of standard features. The G35 is more of a sports car (think 350Z). It'll come down to what driving style you like better. I love my CL-S but if I could afford one I would have got the G35 for the sole reason that it's RWD. If the CL-S was RWD I'd rather have that hands down

And you know, aside from the astounding acceleration, braking and handling performance (not to mention stock adjustible suspension), it has less friggen rattles than my CLS-6 did.

I lovingly referred to my CLS and TL as "the '86 Bronco" to the service guys because of the rattles....And it is not like I didn't love those cars, because I did....
but who can argue against the vettes???

j/k man. You are absolutely right...
My personal opinion is that if you are going for an auto tranny, get the G35 (I was part of the two blown trannies in one week club on my TL)... If you are going for a stick, and live in the north, go for the CLS6. Otherwise get the G35 6spd...Now. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR??? (go get us some pics of your new car)

) on another note, i was driving home from PA to NY and a silver g35 with rims lowered n kit was cruising along with me...oh man those cars look good. but im really gonna make the decision based on performance and bang for the buck because the CL-S6 is gorgeous too
