Slow Shifter?

Hey guys

Im new here and I have a 01 CLS. In the mornings its been getting pretty cold. After about a 3-5 min. idle of warming the car up I go to switch from P to D and the shifter seems to move really slow. This occurs even when I am in SS mode shifting up and down. When it warms up after school I dont notice this problem.
Any one else ever experience this?

Thanks
Mike

You know your tranny is good if it slides into D without any faults.

You might have a sticky shifter

You mean to tell me all this time i have been just wasting my time and gas warming up the engine every morning ? Why din't you tell me that 4 years ago ?
Oh well i think its still better to warm it up every morning anyways just to be on the safe side. 5 mins to warm up my car every morning times 365 days a year thats 1825 mins of my life i wasted. Times that by 4 thats 122 hours of my life wasted warming up my car. lol

You probably wasted another 5 minutes on that math.

I never warmed up my car for more than a couple seconds. As long as it takes me to get strapped in, get comfortable and get the news on.

Warming up the car can actually stress the engine more than just driving it.

To the poster, basically you bought a car with a known tranny problem that the manufacturer conceded to and has extended the tranny warranty to 100k miles (orig warranty was for 50k).
If you are under 100k take it to an Acura dealer, they will put a new tranny in if it is faulty.

I turn the car on and after 30 seconds of being comfortable I'm off. When it's really cold I put the defroster on and let it defrost. But I don't wait too long

Could you elaborate as to the stress on the engine from warming it up.

Warming up the car is from the carbureted days.
But the truth is like Ravi said, get settled in the car, turn on the seat heaters, buckle up and drive.

But you don't want to stress the car for the first 5-10 mintutes. Because with the car sitting overnight, the oil becomes syrup like and does not work as efficently as when it is warm. So when you're doing those 4,000Rpm shifts early on a cold start, you are just asking for problemos.
