Which size on stock rim?

Stock Size is 215-50-17 and many tire companies dont make a tire in that size.

Compared to stock, 215-45-17s @ 60mph, tire RPM is 819 vs. 792 stock. Actual speed is 58mph. Ride height difference is -0.42".

Compared to stock, 225-45-17s @ 60mph, tire RPM is 808 vs. 792 stock. Actual speed is 59mph. Ride height difference is -0.245".

Which tire size would you prefer?
215-45-17
or
225-45-17

IF OTHER, PLEASE POST SUGGESTED SIZE FOR STOCK RIM.

What about if you did 235/45/17 what would the difference be from stock and will 235 fit on a stock rim (03 is 17x7 i think)???

i use 235/45 ZR17 on my stock rims with NO problems whatsoever besides a MUCH better ride...better steering response, and the traction is outstanding...

Makes the stance of the car appear to be wider than it really is too...Especially from the back end...... bigger footprint basically compared to 215's.

HERES THE SPECS FOR THE 235-45-17

Compared to stock, 235-45-17s @ 60mph, tire RPM is 796 vs. 792 stock. Actual speed is 60mph. Ride height difference is -0.065".

Tire rollout: 78.58" compared to stocks' 78.98"
Tire height: 29.33" compared to stocks' 29.46"

Wow... didn't compare that. The 235-45-17s are actually the closest to stock than the other sizes.

What tire manufacturers make 235-45-17s? I'm only looking to spend around $600 including installation and balance. Any suggestions to where to buy ONLINE?

I just mounted ( on Friday ) a set of 235/45/17's on the stock wheels. Dunlop SP5000's, $630 m/b at Discount tire.

Will post a review and some pics later tomorrow.

What do the tires look like on the stock rims? Do they appear to look awkward at the slightest bit? Take pictures please.

Looking at Falken GRB-451's 235-45-17s. Mobile Entertainment (June 02) said some good things about it.

$121 on discounttiredirect.com

Good tire? or would the Nitto 555 ($116), Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 ($111), or Dunlop SP Sport 5000 ($138) be a better choice?

GO with the Bridgestone Potenza RE730's......that is what i got....
My tire guy gave me a deal, but did steer me away from the Falkena and the Dunlop...both of which i was looking very hard at for the same $$$ reasons....but my guy is a good friend and i trusted him that he wouldnt rob me blind...you will spend a little more, but get MUCH more in return..not quite as pricey as the S-03's...but similar performance!

Take a look at the pics here on my car...

HERE IS A PIC OF JUST THE TIRE...go to this thread..

I bought the SP5000's for a lot of reasons.

treadwear 360 - cool looking tread pattern - needed all-season

Seemed sturdier than a lot of other 235's, max pressure is 51 psi, which also indicates a stronger construction.

The speed rating is 93W, which is higher than a lot of the other 235's.

Great improvement so far. Very quiet. Very sticky. They look great.

This is what the car should have come with from the factory.

Will post a review later after a few miles.

Are you looking for all season tires?
You can go 225/45, 225/50, 235/45.
I was looking at toyos FZ1 in 225/45 and Mich Pilot Sport AS in 225/50. All the tire manufacturer web sites show the 235 tire needs a 7.5" rim, where our CLS is 7" rim, so ymmv.
All of these are very close to the original tire size. Note that our spedo's are off a bit anyway, so you may actually be getting closer to the correct speed with different tires.

Just remember to also look at the tire weight rating!!

Let me know and I can post a pic of the Pilot Sports on a stock height cls.
