seat heater buttons
Why do the auto's have high and low adjustments for the seat heaters, while my 6spd only has on or off. Also why are they in diffrent positions. Did acura just feel like switching it up or does it serve a purpose?

The single position switch in the 6-Speed is kind of a “combo” switch.
From what I’ve experienced it comes on in the HIGH position until it hits a preset temperature.
After that it kicks to LOW and then cycles ON/OFF to maintain a comfortable range.
I remember on my 2001 if I kept the switch on HIGH it would burn my ASS if I didn’t switch it to LOW once it got warm.
So they kind of combined the functionality of the two-way switch into a single setting.

I'll keep it on LOW frequently, especially if I park outside. When I remote start, the car warms, up the air in the cabin, and the seat warmers heat up the seat so it's not so cold
And yeah, the Jetta's seat warmers can send you to the ER if your not careful

I only use it when warming up the car after it has sat overnight and it is cold like it is right now. Other than that with a ebony interior they heat themselves up plenty quick with any kind of sunshine.

VW needs to go back to Car Electrics-101. Its amazing how notorious their electrical problems are.
As for the CL, I'm always a bit cautious and wary to not leave it on the High-setting for too long. A bit unnerving that something might go wrong.
Oh ya.... there need to be a Meduim setting cos Low does NOTHING and High threatens to fry my a**!

Yeah .. that is something that I miss from the Auto when I *cough* upgraded to the manual .. I always liked the 'high/low' settings on the seats ... I think what they did on the manual tranny is definately a downgrade

When I first swapped from the Slush-Box to the 6-Speed I too was mad about the “downgrade”. But I think the single position switch works just fine.

Like Shawn said, I agree, the single position switch is just fine by me. Curiously though, my fathers Pacifica has two position switches for both the front and next row of seats. On "high" in that crossover vehicle, the seats mearly warm you to a nice temperature. Sometimes, the CLS seats get so warm as to be uncomfortable. No big deal, just turn the heaters off. In winter, I'd rather be too warm, than not warm enough.
Either way, these devices spoil you. I can never imagine me buying another car without seat heaters, and because I travel tons by car, the navi is a necessity also.

Our Subaru Forester has the hi/lo thing. I find the high setting too high (but no where near burning) -- my wife thinks it is perfect. I prefer the lower setting in the Subie.

The 6-speed heaters are thermostatic, so they cycle to maintain a "decent" temperature while they're on. I think it works fine with only the one button. Therefore they don't need a hi/lo setting.
I suspect one of the reasons they did that was due to the differences in the center console between the 6-speed and the autos. I haven't done a scientific comparison, but it seems like there's more empty plastic in the autos than in the 6-speed.
