mcgrath acura, il does not go through comptech....wtf
i went in at lunch to my acura dealership to see prices and info on the comptech products everyone is buying. i asked the service guys and parts guys and they have never heard of comptech nor do they go through them. they said my best bet is to go online. well no shit assholes, but the whole point in me stopping in was to see what they had to offer and they gave me a big thumbs down.
are all dealerships suppose to go through comptech, or only some or what.
reason being, im looking for a comptech intake, so which direction do i look now if the dealer doesnt have it?
thanks

you can buy mods online, i dont think most dealers stock comptech parts
Dealers will honor your warrenty if THEY INSTALL your comptech parts.
But then again, woodfield acura always honored my warrenty even though i didnt get my parts installed by them

McGarth replaced my tranny for me and I have some mods... none dealership installed. They didn't even question anything, so they will most likely still honor the warranty even if they don't get installed there.
Everything will be more expensive from the dealers anyway... better off ordering yourself.

Continental is just west of there. Take Ogden for a few more miles and you'll run right into. 10-15 minutes at the most. Same side of the street as McGrath.

McGrath Acura's service dept. has always treated me right. Randy Scarbro, the service manager, is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. McGrath may not carry Comptech, but they sure have heard of them. I don't know what gives in your situation. I will be turning to them for my blower install next month.

I'm not sure if Park Ave will ship out products but you can call them and try .. they stock comptech. www.parkaveacura.com
and www.autocarparts.com

The only Comptech Authorized dealership in the Chicago area is Continental. Orland Park Acura may be comptech authorized as well, they do alot of mod work there and the prices are FAIR for a dealership. I think they charged me about the same as Park Ave Acura for my header install (when I had my CLS). Napleton blows as far as I'm concerned. The have one mechanic that does some aftermarket work on NSX's. They will rape you on any other mod install.

McGrath Acura in Westmont sells and installed the Comptech Springs only. They used to (1 year ago) sell all of comptech's acura parts in their service dept. They've changed their ways lately, as I found out when I called and they acted like they never sold Comptech parts other than the springs. I was about to have them install all my CT stuff when I found out about Garage Kwai (who's probably installed more comptech stuff than Continental.. maybe).
Continental is where I bought my car, and they are a shady bunch. I have had nothing but negative experiences with them regarding my car in general. They refuse to trouble-shoot my car for various problems (i.e. engine vibration, etc) b/c of my aftermarket parts. They DO have Comptech's catalog, and they used to have cars on the lot w/ all the Comptech goodies installed (about four years ago)... but they too have changed their ways.
Best of luck

SPIROH-the mcgrath in westmont
TL TYPE S-i went to mcgrath at lunch today and 2 guys both looked like they had no clue what i was talking about for comptech. maybe they were new i dont know, but they didnt mention springs either or even say they install anything. im gonna go out to orland and see what they have to say.
if their authorized, will they have parts, or does that just mean they can install comptech parts?
thanks all

It just means they install.
But I'm with the other guys, it's probably better to order the parts online and bring them to the dealership. When I had my CL, I got my comptech springs/sways/and headers all from ACP. Tim gave me really good prices at the time. I'm not sure where the best prices for comptech are these days....but they are certainly not at dealerships.

Also... don't bother driving all over the place... just go to acura.com ... look up "find a dealership" and just call them ... i did that when i was having header trouble... it saves you a ton of driving. You'll know IMMEDIATELY after talking w/ the head tech or the service manager if they're comptech authorized or not.
Pauli Acura in Elmhurst, IL is actually really cool about installing comptech parts and will warrant the car afterwards.

na dude, authorized does not mean that they have just a catalog. I don't remember what the requirements were for that title off hand.. I got the comptech catalog's from the parts department at Napleton and also a copy in Libertyville....they were not "authorized."
And of course Comptech would replace their product if it was defective. They will not pay for negligent installation, so that's why some people prefer to get some aftermarket parts installed at a dealership. I had no problems getting my headers done at Orland Park, the price was fair and I knew if something went down, I could bring it in with no questions asked. Peace of mind.

Yep- Definitley call before you start running around, I remember that Orland Park had very reasonable prices when i was getting quotes. I think Napleton gave me a ridiculous quote of $700-800 for spring install.

For you Chicago guys, Arlington Acura in Palatine has really taken care of me.
They are not only familiar with Comptech but have done many installs for customers. They will only install Comptech parts though and they are very strict with this, since the Comptech stuff fits like stock not to mention their trust for Comptech quality.
They replaced my drivers seat covers, top and bottom, along with the seat track, both seat backs and drivers upper seat heater.
They replaced my armrests on both door panels, window weather strips, door sills and other various trim pieces I was unhappy with.
I just had them install Comptech front cambers and they only charged me $160.00, not bad from a dealer. They did my alignment for $70.00 at the same time.
I would talk to Omar, as he has never said no to a warranty issue and is reasonable about labor costs.
I also go to Grand Honda, where I have a friend who is an ex-Acura tech working there, Steve Massey.
He is a big racer, loves modding and is an excellent tech.
Anyway, he has done three supercharger installs and tons of other mods like springs, headers, etc.
He did my springs, headers, rotors, b-pipe, cans, icebox and pullies. He has done extensive work on Tool462's supercharged Accord as well.
They are very reasonable with their prices, talk to Tony Lepardo, the service manager and ask for Steve Massey.
