Sc Oweners Help !!!

OK i got the sc base in and i set it into the bracket ... i trimmed the fan housing and then placed it in.

Anyways i not iced that the freaking fins on the fan are hitting the base of the sc !!! WTF MAN ?

Would it be that big of a problem to trim about 5cm off of the corner of each blade so that it clears correctly? Or will this cause some sort of problem ?

I wouldn't think it would hurt anything...but I'm definitely not an expert on these things.

Hey barf_n_surf... trimming the fan blades may throw off the balance of the fan, you might be able to get it close though. Other thought is.... have you mounted the blower belt and tightened it? if you haven't put the belt on yet, the blower may be laying lower than it would with the belt on. put belt on and then check. there's not much room when all is done, maybe a 1/8 - 3/16 of an inch clearance. good luck

yea i eprsonally dont see how it really could do any damage .. those fans dont spin fast/efficiently enough to be knocked out of balance if it spins, in my opinion. So i dont see the problem in trimming about 3-4 cm off of each fans blade.

But yea i just wanted to check with all you guys first

you can trim the fan SHROUD.... I HIGHLY doubt the blades of the fan are hitting the jack shaft.

go to Comptech's Website and download the directions... it tells the TL guys what they need to do... no trimming is needed on the CL-S shroud.

hey i did ... its actually hitting the blade ... by about 5-8mm.

its not the shaft ... its the actual base of the sc that is hitting the fan

.. no way should the fan BLADE hit the Blower unit.. put the charger in correctly or take it to a tech... you clearly have NO clue what you are doing.

reads like your blower brace is installed incorrectly.

go to Comptech Site and download the directions... then print them out... then try reading them and seeing where you went wrong.

Boy you are tough!

Are all three S/C mount-point bolted on? If that is the case, it cannot hit the
fan blades IF you have the factory radiator/fan assy. There is a possibility that
the fan assy is not OEM - what year is your car? Most likely something is not bolted up correctly.

Also... you could notch the fan blades, but try to do so evenly.

you need a spacer for the fan blade. call comptech, they should have the part in stock for you.

a Auto TL... The S/C kit for the TL's comes with the new fan shroud that is already trimmed... the kit also comes with a return label so you can send the TL shroud back after you exchange it with the trimmed one..

No it is an auto kit, came off my car without problems. I just don't think he's capable of doing the install himself.

After all he installed the alternator and SC without connecting the belt from the crank pulley to the alternator.

I know... but there is no way he should have to trim the blades of the fan.. he has a mount screwed up somewhere.

Bigguyonbike is putting you on the right track. Did you or did you not have the fan spacers in your kit? It's not purely trimming the fan shroud on an Auto.

steve, the parts that you shipped to me never included the new fan shroud. im pretty sure this is why the fins are hitting the bast of the sc.

we are helping you...so stop your fucking crying.

The TL Supercharger KIT comes with a new fan shroud..... YOU bought a USED CL-S kit... the CL-S kit DOES NOT come with a new fan shroud because it does not need it.

SC Problem Part 2 ....

OK fixed the fan problem ... got it to fit properly.

So we get everything on properly .. i think

We try cranking it over and put put put put the car is struggling to turn over.
We jump the battery and put put put put ... nothing
We tried it again and it went put put put ... cranked over but then started to sputter heavily .. I guess fuel was pooled in the motor?

So we tried a few more times and nothing
Then we crank it again and put put put put put put put ... nothing - and my friends tell me they smell coolant.
I let them crank it one more time put put put put put put put ... nothing - and I agree with them its coolant.

So what symptoms would you guys conclude? I think that i just have one of the vacuum lines switched with one of the coolant lines ... do you guys think this is the soruce of the problem ?

And are you going to tell us what you did to correct the problem?

you better pray to the dear lord that you do not have a coolant line in place of a vacuum line.... if you do, you might as well go submerge your air filter in a bucket of water and start the car...

you are prolly injesting coolant and you will ruin your motor...

Pull the plugs and make sure there isn't any coolant in the engine.
