Saw the TL-S at my local "rip-off" dealer(long)

Thursday morning, I brought my car in for service because I fell victim to the sinister coke in the cupholder. Braked too hard and my Mcdonald's coke tipped over.

To make a long story short, my local dealership said that it isn't covered under warranty because I spilled coke on it...ended up charging me $160(about $110 USD) just to take apart the shifter and clean and lube everything. What a con-job!!!

And, I've come to the realization that they are total morons up here in Canada because they have absolutely no clue about the newly designed cupholder when I asked them about it. Lazy dumb-fuks(pardon my french lol) didn't even bother to look into it.

No, wait...allow me to amend my statement...they are completely incompetent morons! After I picked up my car, I went home and noticed that they haven't fixed the rattle in the back. It's actually worse. Climbed in the back to see if I could locate it myself. That's when I noticed that the rear passenger seat is not securely fastened down...I could actually lift the seat up!

I'm going back there in the a.m. and I'll be out for blood!!!

Oh yeah, the only good thing about the whole experience was that I saw the TL-S. The fog lights do look very appealing...just wish they were a tad larger, giving it a more mean look to it. It also does not come with the CL-S oval exhaust tips, but rather retains the stock TL exhaust tips.

Sorry for the long post everyone and thanks for reading about my "sissy-fit" =)

Oh yeah, and about them being morons...last may, I went to this very same dealership to enquire about the CL-P. The salesperson said "In Canada, we only get the CL-S...no navi and no CL-P, ever" So I did what any practical-minded person in my predicament would do...threw rationality out the window, figured "what the hell" and shelled out the extra money for the CL-S. What do I see not too far off from the TL-S? A brand-spanking new CL-P waiting for a lucky buyer. I give up on these guys. They're incredibly good liars or they're really just dumb...wait, what am I thinking...the guy's a car salesman..lol

Not to be disrespectful man, but why would you expect the Coke clean up to be covered by warranty?

The rest of your post I agree with.

Mine was tea, but they fixed mine under warranty...special ordered the part because the sugar WILL hose it.

dee

BTW, you'd think that on a 30K car they'd have a boot or something to prevent this..my '72 SuperBeetle had it as have every other car, why is there that gap there? Anything, from dust to whatever can get down there.

i took mine back to the dealer a while back because the (i dont know what its called) gray plate that has the park, reverse, drive....., symbols in it, had two little bitty spots on it where it looked like somebody had poured acid on it, i not talkin big spots, these were small, but noticeable. this was about four months of owning the car and you know how we want our cars to be perfect. so i took it back to the dealer and asked to have it replaced, and to my surprise, he didn't even hesitate, he told me that i'd get a postcard in the mail in like three days, and when i do to call them and set up an appointment to have it replaced. the whole point is that this was something that i did, and it was very minor, and there gonna replace it.

This is why I keep paper towels, towels, rubbing alchol, and cleaning stuff in my trunk. Same thing happend to me but it was from a biggie size coke. I imediatly threw the coke outside the car and ran to the trunk and cleaned the mess, all on the side of the road.

me too I have a number 9 like mark on my fake aluminum shifter gate. In addition to the couple small scratches. I went to complain about it. They would charge me some $30 for a replacement. It the replacement is a real chrome one, then I will do it in no time. However, to replace a plastic by a plastic and you would end in the same result in short time.

Does anyone know if we can get a real Chromed one, and not in plaastic?

Thanks.

because the spill was due to the faulty cupholder....some memebers have been able to get this covered under warranty by some dealers

someone please explain to me what is being "fxed". its only coke, cant it just be cleaned? what is being fixed?

I spilt coke on my shifter, and I just cleaned a little, even though the shifter is a little harder to shift cause its sticky inside...this sounds bad, but its not something you HAVE to get fixed is it? I mean I am just gonna clean it in the summer with a toothbrush or somethin

the reason why is because they used a defective cup holder and to prove it they redesigned it and newer ones come w/the new design in essientce they caused the spill

CL with 225HP it has no "S" labels on the trunk. It's everywhere the S is but at about 2,000 less.

Aaaaaahhh, just came back from the dealer. They couldn't fix the seat cushion, but that's no problem because they would order 1 in and replace it. The rattle is still present, but that's okay as well, since I told them to take care of it the same time the seat cushion comes in. Didn't want to stay there any longer since I waited......3 hours in their service dept. Went down like this:

Dropping off my car, service rep says "shouldn't take too long, why don't you wait if you're not busy and if I need to ask you any questions about the rattle, blah blah blah. I agreed and sat down to read the newspaper. 12pm turns to 1pm...no problem...just have a little patience. 2pm rolls around...getting kind of restless, but I'll be understanding since it is a busy friday afternoon. 3pm...aaargh...I can't take it anymore, just give me back my car...worry about the other stuff when the parts come in. There you have it...my entire friday afternoon totally screwed by my local dealership!

At times like these, I envy all you U.S. CL owners:-(

Not directed at SatinSlayer:

Redesigning the cup holders is neither an admission of guilt nor liability. Where is the TSB on this? I would like to see it so I can get my changed out. I'm just trying to say a mid-year change shouldn't automatically be contrused as a mistake, especially when an improvement is more likely. BTW, isn't coverage under warranty a dealership's call?

The only thing that I can disagree with is if you expect some car salesperson or even the dealer's managers to give you future information about anything beyond their control then you are a naive car buyer. STOP LISTENING TO THE GOD*AMN DEALER. No matter how you cut it, it's your own fault for believing anything you heard from them about anything that's not happening right underneath their noses. And you can only get that from experience.

If they say they don't have any black cars for sale ever, buy this white one instead and you buy it and a black car arrives on the train and by truck on the dealer's lot tomorrow, that's 100% your own fault! You have to believe that a car dealership is a lot less friendly and a lot less knowledgable than they appear. You have to be filled with skepticism, disbelief, and even a little bit of disdain. And that strictly is my own opinion.

Worse thing is the Acura in Miami. I went into there and they had a pimped out CL-S with aftermarket rims. This CL-S looks sweet. I wanted it. So right behind it is a TL with the Type S Rims on it. I was like ok, makes it look better. Then I look at the back of it and they put at "Type-S" badge on it. What dumbasses because they know the TL-S is coming out.

I gotta agree with kensteele on this one. Dealers typically know less about their cars and what's coming out than the well informed consumer. I have told my salesman a number of times about things on the horizon from Acura and neither he nor anyone else at the dealership knew anything about them (i.e. the TLS).

Don't believe a thingthey tell you--after all, they are "car salesmen" and will tell you jsut about anything.

It would be nice if Acura reeled these guys in a bit and had a little more uniformity in the lies that are told to the consumer. Usually when someone up there tells me the Integra type R will be out 3 months after the regular model I just smile and say, "really--that's great" knowing full well they are full of crap. Now, whether they know they are lying or not is a different story--I think a lot of them are just plain dumb.

QuiQ cLs, it was the Burrard Acura dealership. There are two black(?) TL-S's downstairs near the service dept. They aren't even prepped yet, just sitting there under cover in the dark with all the white tape over it.
