S4 Kill... twice :-)

I just read Zapata's post... must be S4 day!!

Anyways... see this pretty new S4... 2001 or 2002, I believe. It looked stock and the dude looked like someone from revenge of the nerds.

So we tries to pass me on a local street... but I gun it a bit and we end up in a two-lane left turn onto the freeway on-ramp. It's a stop-light and the freeway entrance is on the left. There is a dip just before the freeway... and its right around my house, so I know it doesn't bode this situation well.

I was pretty sure he was going to take me off the line... especially since we are turning.

Okay... light turns green... and he LAUNCHES... whoa I was surprised... cuz usually folks don't launch those cars on the street. Anyways... its a left-turn... so here I am just spinning away.... he's 1 car ahead... I shift when I am at the dip... front wheels take air and finally I hit land when its into 2nd. At this time he's probably 1.5 cars ahead. We are now on the on-ramp... so I know his ass is mine now. By 60... I am on his tail and need to let off so that I don't run into him. Floor it again and now its 4 lanes of glory... so I catch up by 85. He slows down... so I figure its over. I know I beat him, but he probably thinks he got me.

I am driving along peacefully and lo-and-behold.. homeboy comes up... slows down next to me... we are going like 70mph and points his finger... hehe FINE BY ME!!

I have it in 3rd... let him floor it first. We went from 70mph to 115mph and I took him by 2.5 cars.

Then... I slow down and now we start chatting. He says that the CL-S is faster than him stock... I say... I guess so! I know those things run 14.1 to 14.3 @ 97-98mph stock. I figure if we raced down the 1/4... with drag tires.. I'd take him by 3-4 cars.. probably 0.5s margin at least. I am quite happy because even with the stock exhaust... my mph should be well into the 100mph range.

Pulleys go in this weekend.... Comptech is lagging on the flywheel. I hope sub 13.5's are doable... honestly I think so!

Nice kill, sounds a little familiar. It must be S4 week. I wonder if it was the same guy I took out in LA. LOL

I know you don't like running at LACR(elevation), but I'd really like to run your CL one of these days. I think you are still faster in the 1/4, but I think my 1/8th might be close, and it would be fun to see how the different cars run. I'm thinking with my headers on I would be around 13.8-.9 at sea level, 14.2-3 at LACR. I should only be trapping around 97 at sea level though.

I'll post next time I'm going, maybe next Wednesday. gregshin might bring his 240 hybrid as well.

Again, sweet kill.

I agree, bring it to LACR with street tires. I might, and I say might have a chance. Then again, I might just cut a .3X redlight to keep it close. LOL

I won't track the car for at least 2 more months. I want to be prepared this time.... I was very disappointed with the turbo runs... not prepared and subsequently not consistent. My MPH should reflect mid-12 runs... but obviously that wasn't the case!

I have the headers, intake manifold, TB, CAI as of today. I am putting the pulley's this weekend. I am waiting for the Comptech flywheel & clutch (should be shipping this week). Race-day will be header-back... so no exhaust or catalytic convertor.

There's one more thing I am working on.... should help significantly... but will take a month - and its not the cams.

I hope to hit a 13.x at LACR... if that is the case, its an easy 0.5s correction to sea-level.

About 4 years ago I hit a 12.7 @ 106 on my civic HB (NA as well) and the following weekend, it hit 11.96 @ 110 in Bakersfield (exact setup). I don't expect 7/10th's from the CL-S... but 0.5s is a better estimate.

It's a bitch with the street-tires... expect 2.2 to 2.3 60-foots.. I don't mind running it... though - its like launching at 1800 RPM... quite pointless. The tires rip-loose on the street when VTEC kicks in... probably won't happen at a track... but we'll see.

13s at LACR would be sweet. My buddy just got a CAM in his GTP and ran a 13.6 up there. We pretty much have the same mods minus the CAM. However the CAM is good for around 40hp plus it fights of the knock retard(KR). Yes traction at LACR is a true pain. My best 60' is still only 2.24!

Hope to see you there some time.

The car has to be running deep in the 13's to pull off a 13-second pass at LACR... would be difficult. Unfortunately this board is very skeptical and if I pull off a 14.0 or 14.1 at LACR... the general consensus is that its a 14-second car... even if I run it on top of Mt. Everest Along that vein... I'll run it at sea-level and try to bust a mid-13.

I hear ya on that. It is frustrating some times. I still haven't ran at Bakerfield or Fontana. I think when I am comfortable with my driving abilities, I'll take it down to Fontana, or maybe even pothole city..I mean Carlsbad, to get a time that the rest of the country will be able to compare to. My PB of 14.8 does not sound very good, even stating the altitude. While a corrected 14.3 isn't the greatest its a lot close to 13s than it is to 15s. LOL. My goal is a 13.999 at LACR. I'll need to probably run at least DRs and us some race gas to do it though.
