RPM prob

Was driving on the freeway today and the VSA light and exclamation point indicator light came on. I noticed that when accelorating the car would not go past 3800 rpm's no matter what gear I was in (auto or auto stick). Any ideas what the prob may be? The CEL light was on prior but it threw the code for fuel cap loose or purge valve solenoid. Thanks for the help

Sorry your trans just died. It's in "limp mode" now. Won't let you out of 2nd gear. Take it in & pray your still covered.

See the trans section........

I can get through all my gear fine. No flashing D5 light. I still got the car up to highway speed. I just can't push the RPM's past 3800. Called the dealership and mechanic said it sounds like the solenoid. Oil is not low. Tranny feels fine. Hmmmmm.....any more suggestions

my car did the same thing on friday and I pulled the code and it was p0122 tps low circuit, taking it to get checked most likely will have to replace the throttle body since the tps cannot be removed. Reason why it was reving up so high is because the computer is not getting a proper signal from the tps therefore it doesnt know the correct throttle position and it wont shift properly

Mine isn't reving high at all. Everytime I get the RPM's near 3800 the needle goes haywire like it is cutting off the v-tec. Car is driveable but just can't push the RPM's. If I take it normal ( not gunning it ) you can't even tell. Very strange....
