i was in the exact same predicament and i opted for the trailer hitch. it's much cleaner and it's really hidden to be honest i was amazed how far it sticks back there you don't even notice it. and it makes loading/unloading bike sooo easy.

it was a very good decision imho. and i installed it myself.. for 150$ all in.

i was suck a hater of the hitchs but the more i thought about it the more it made sense

Unfortunately I think thats the only style we can get. It would be nice if we had the option of mounting the rack directly onto the roof rails and not the door frame.

well i have a thule but yakima is probably a better fit since its a japanese manufacture . If you opt for the thule you'll need a short roof adapter. part number thule 477 i believe. the cl in the pic has it ( the rail bars ) . not sure if yakima requires one but its an extra 100 bones if u do need it. hope this helps.

The Yakima doesn't require the stretch kit unless you're mounting longer or heavier equipment. I use the Viper carriers (mounts to forks) and it is relatively stable, but if I was using a bike carrier that required the front tire to stay on, I would want the stretch kit.
