Mystery Mod / RES!!!!

Mods could you please make this a sticky!!!!

Ok here's the low down. Bitium from acura-tl.com is attempting to get this thing off the ground once again. They need get a large number of pre-orders in so they can get the product made and shipped. Apparently, Bitium and Tim from ACP.com will handle the money so Doug won't run off with our loot hehe They need atleast 400 people to get the shit made so PLEASE go over to a-tl.com and vote!!!!!!

we may have voted if wed buy one...

this seems to be a NEW vote that will decide whether or not RES will get the required investments to make it into production.

Um, OK... I think I know what RES is, but before I even think about plunking down money for something that doesn't exist, WTF is it exactly???

Re: Mystery Mod / RES!!!!

Once I see this mod actually works with proof from an actual member of this forum and detail pics of this device, I will be in as well. But I must see this data first. I have yet to actually see real pics of this device, and a real DYNO graph of it from a member here.

It just sounds too far fetched to be true.

Where are they? I want to see a dyno of a stock car (a CAI is okay) before and after the RES is added. I want proof it's at least 15-20hp gains. Then I'd be sold that it works.

Yea and a more detailed explanation of what part it is that it replaces. I found many explanatins from the plastic part on top to the metal around it. I can't figure this out.

As long as your engine is a J32A2 I don't see why it wouldn't work unless it is specifically build for the airflow the domed pistons of the TypeS pull in.

If its safe for our car and wont void warranty Im in I find it hard to believe 10 to 15 hp over the stock without any other mod. Does that mean that with CAI, headers, and exhaust....about how much are we looking at??? Is this power throughout the powerband or just after Vtec kicks in..like the headers u dont get that much till about 6K RPM??

geeze ppl do some research yes it will work on the premium versions of both cars. You won't get as big of a gain as with the Type-S but you will see gains nonetheless. It's the best bang for the buck mod released to this date. Not only does it add HP but it also hads TORQUE.....something our cars need VERY badly.

Yes it is real. People form this board have held the unit in their hands.

yes, you will see power gains across the power band. Scalbert built one himself and had it installed for few months and said that he noticed power gains. I believe he is going to transfer the piece to his 6MT and get it dynoed. They are not the same piece but principle and theory behind are the same. Please go to the thread and read the first post because it has parts of EricL's post in describing what this piece does.

I read all that. But like I said, I would like to see pics of this unit actually NOT installed compared to a stock one. I want to see what it looks like, I want to see back to back runs dyno sheets, of recent members doing it. $300 is alot. I want to justify it.

Do a search for the pics. There is one pic but that's because when it was taken the product development was still in its infancy. Plus, autocarparts.com will be holding the money and Tim would stake his livelyhood on something that doesn't exist and something that doesn't do what it says.

The key word there Zap is released, and this mod has never been released. We are still going on hearsay. I'm interested but what are all the details. Shouldn't a product about to be released have all details in place with actual gains, warranty issues, CARB info etc.

search dude.

this product was displayed at SEMA, pics have been posted numerous times on & off the car...

this product does work.

the only problem with it is upfront costs of manufacturing... which is what is trying to be addressed.

I always thought those dynos of the RES was not the one that was going into production. Didnt he say he had fittment issues and the stock hood wouldnt close... did he ever make one that would allow the stock hood to close... and did he dyno THAT res?

I don't have the picture on this computer, but I still don't see how this Extension for air volume within the CL-S Upper Intake Plenum that bolts in place of the top metal plate, will work for the manifolds for the CL-P and the Accord v6. Correct me if I'm wrong , but you'll need a totally seperate design/casting for such plates to work on those intake manifolds. Now, if that's the case in question, so be it, but from what you guys make it sound like, it's as if this CL-S RES will work for everyone, and it won't. If they have 2-3 seperate designs, than yea, it'll work. But if they can't even get one design casted, how're they gonna do 3??

Just tell em to sell the designs to Comptech, they'll get it out on the market within 2-5 months... :P

I did a search on this. I saw the pic, I saw the dyno, I saw the "results" However I saw nothing about what it is exactly. Is this like a upper intake spacer? Or is it a new runner type of intake, simlar to a wave guide? Also in one of the searches I did, It was mentiond that the stock engine covers will not fit back on the engine after the res is installed, because the height of the res prevents it. Is this true?

I think it would be awsome if the RES finaly mad it out for sale and I am sure there would be tons of people buying them...but I dont think that they can get 3-400 people to pre order this thing. But if they do then great...I might look into it if there are no major side effects to having this thing.

OH my people, please use the search button. Man. It will fit both TypeS and Premium versions. It is the SAME piece!!!!!!!!!!!

JasonT,
Yea it's sorta like spacer. When you take the black plastic manifold cover off and you see that grey piece wit the 6 bolts. YOu would remove that piece and swap out the stock piece with the RES.

I put in a vote, but said I'd have to think about it.
I need to see more information.
Realistically, I don't see myself sending the money before I get a report back that someone has the thing installed and working.
Scalbert may have been joking around when he mentioned the interest on $120,000, but that is a very large amount of earnest money to have lying around.

As seems to be the case with all group buys, we should see a lot of information develop on a weekly basis, and if this thing firms up then I will definitely be in at $300-350.

After reading Scalbert's threads about removing the mods from his auto-tranny car and noticing a significant decrease when the home-made RES was removed, it's an awfully compelling mod.
