Replacing the plastic wood trim?

Has anyone been able to replace the ugly fake wood trim? I have the black wood which looks terrible no matter how you slice it. I would like to perhaps find something odd like real wood or some form of titanium... if you have pics that would also be cool.

I saw a topic that had a granite rock trim that looked pretty sweet. I don't know if it was custom or if they only had kits for Mercedes, but you might want to search for it...There is a thread out there somewhere.

I was also looking into replacing the wood trim. Unfortunately, I can't find a blessed thing. I just want to replace the wood where it is, and not add any more. All the kits, though, add to it, but don't replace the original wood.

I took my pieces off an had them done to look like Carbon Fiber
I was trying to do this so I could offer it for other TL/CL owners, but it didn't work out, because Acura doesn't sell the trim pieces and the procedure to get this done is expensive

here are the photos

Here is instructions on how to remove the door pieces

werd, I need something a bit more technical looking than the fake wood treatment. That looks sweet, What about straight up glossy black paint like on the exterior?

Trim pieces - where to buy and how to remove ?

I like the idea of painting those trim pieces the same color as the car. I have a white 01 CL-S with a black cowhide interior. I gave notion to chroming the door trim pieces, but the cost is astonishing. So I'm looking at painting them white with a clear coat. But I want to buy a second set from, say, a junk yard to use as an experiment in case it doesn't come out the way I'm thinking. That, and it would be nice to have the originals to put back in when it comes time to sell and move up (to an 05 RL, for example =) )

Anyone got any ideas on where to go look for these pieces (all 6 of them) and what they'd cost ? Also, how do you pull them off the car ? I got the 2 center console pieces off w/no problems, but the 2 on the doors and 2 on the rear seat side panels are a bit more stubborn. There was a how-to link two or three posts up, but the link is dead.

Thanks !

They don't come off, they are acutally PART of the door panel itself. To replace them, you replace the entire panel.

What? that's ridiculous. I can't believe they actually did that. So are you telling me that all the guys on this forum that have titanium kits and replaced the trims on the doors had to REPLACE the whole PANEL?!

They didnt replace the panels, they just spend a good bit of time placing vinyl over the wood, then cutting it without cutting the leather. I wont try that but i will try to find a shop that would. I really hate the black wood.
