I had an interesting experience this morning. After having my transmission recall work done yesterday, I started my car this morning and it started making a fairly loud humming noise. At first I thought it might be one of the fans, and that maybe part of the recall was to have a fan run at all times (though I never read anything to that effect). I should also mention that I changed out my air filter last night. Anyway, after opening the hood and listening around I noticed that the noise seemed to be coming from my air cleaner, and it was very loud. Turns out that when I put the top back on the air cleaner I had missed one of the clips that holds the back of the lid in place. When I removed the lid with the car running the hum was extremely loud (anyone ever notice this? ). Then I placed the lid back on, this time making sure the two rear clips were secure, and the noise disappeared. Needless to say that I was relieved that the noise had nothing to do with the recall.

i had some piece of shit that i bought the first week i got my car. it was off ebay for like 20 bones. my girlfriend said she could always hear my car in her room when i came to pick her up. she lived on the second floor of a typical single family home. basically it sounded like an industrial size vaccum cleaner.

 

i'm just used to the soubd of an intake cold start up...
