Replacing coil pack
Replacing coil pack
I just recently found what was possibly causing my car to idle funny. My viper 791 was connected to my coil pack which could have been causing a short. When I disconnected/cut the wire and tapped it back with electrical tape it corrected the problem some but still idles up and down when it get colder outside, my iac valve was changed at 10k miles ago. Are the coil packs plug and play...ie will I replace all six or is it one by one?
Not necessarily true... the coil packs on our cars are very iffy. They won't throw a code, but can certainly mess with the car. I remember I replaced all 6 coil packs and spark plugs, and the car ran noticeably better.
New from the dealer their a little pricey. Plug and play yes, 1 bolt, 1 plug, easy. From what I hear you can find them at like a NAPA auto store type place for less money than the dealer. Or you can go here too: www.oemacuraparts.com
^LOOOOL!!!
I have 5 extra coil packs. I can ship them to you for $15 each, and I'll even make you a video DIY of how to replace them. It would take you ~7 minutes to replace BOTH.
Holy fuckin' shit, $650!!!

Rear is NOT difficult necessarily. Coil from cylinder 1 is kind of a pain (passenger rear), but the other two in the rear are pretty easy.
Obviously the coils in the front are like changing a light bulb.
Still don't understand how a dealer justifies 4 hours of labor for 2 coil packs...
