Rear-view mirrow Auto-Dim Problem
Rear-view mirrow Auto-Dim Problem
First I was blinded during the night, then I took flash and determined that only part of the mirrow dims... and there is a line separating working and non-working part.
It looks like my rear-view mirrow only works on about 50% of it's surface area. Other half does seem to absorb light, and I can see clear line between working part of the mirrow and non working.
Has this happened to anyone of you? Now it will be a bitch proving to the dealer that this is a problem. I need to get my flash light to demonstrate that.
I always kept my mirrow with Auto-Dim On all the times, I guess I should turn it off and manually turn it on only when I need it....?
Any advices on how to present this to the dealer so I don't go home with Invoice that says "Could not reproduce"

Yes, same happened to me, just bring it to the dealer and they will replace it. Happened to others on the board as well

I had my passenger side window shattering when going down, they finally agreed to replace window regulator... But I had to go few times before I convinced them that this is a problem...

FYI: I found that our mirror kept dimming in the garage or on overcast days. I took it in, they swapped out the mirror. It kept doing it. Finally I figured out my wife's parking pass (hanging on the mirror) was blocking the one sensor, so it kept thinking it was dark!

The mirror will dim when the CDS on the mirror side has more light than the CDS on the other side of the mirror (there is a hole with a sensor in it). If you want to test the mirror, place your finger over the hole on the non-mirrored side of the mirror. That way the mirror thinks it's dark out, with lights shining on the mirror.

Yes,
It started from the bottom left working it way to the center. A apparent line of dim to non dim. So the entire bottom left of the mirror did not dim anymore. The dealer knew of the issue, and replaced it. Just go to the dealer and if they have one in stock they'll replace it, if not they'll order it.

You also had only half of your mirrow not dimming, or entire mirrow? Did your dealer know imeadeatly what you are talking about and ordered a replacement? Or they started to give you this crap "Oh, that's not a problem, its a feature of this sophisticated car.!"
