Radiator fan switch DIY?

So I've had the issue of the fans running continuously (literally...not just to cool down the engine after its off, but overnight til my battery dies). I've narrowed it down to this. Already took it to the stealership and paid 150 for them to tell me its fine.

For someone who is a beginner (i can change the headlights out no problem -thats as far as my knowledge goes) how hard is this fix? could someone take some pics of the entire engine bay and circle where it is?

Is it plug and play or will fluid get involved (thats what she said)

I ordered the part already...from rockauto http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/rafr...&parttype=4312

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

all you have to do is unplug the wire from the sensor and remove it. The pic is in the thread you bumped in the TL section. That sensor is on the thermostat housing which is located under the throttle body/intake area.

So I got to it, and a wrench isnt reasonable with the space there is. Is a standard socket wrench set not big enough? They don't fit.

I just did mine and I actually used a plumbers wrench to break the seal! Just be careful not to strip it. The right way would be to take the new sensor to a tool/auto shop and find the right size deep socket. Not too hard to do.

Well, not that anyone cares, but for anyone in the future with this issue, it was the condenser fan relay. Swap out with the cooling fan relay and see what happens.

That problem / fix used to plague my 90 Legend when I had it. Luckily I have not had that problem with my 01 CL.

24mm socket/wrench? Can you get to it without pulling up throttle body or without removing hose? I just purchased a 24mm extended socket....hoping I can get to it that way. Thanks!!!!

I am going to try replacing 14 and 15. 15 is easy. 14 is the reason for my question.

When in drive and idle at drive thru, and always with AC on (its 113 here in Vegas) my temp gauge rises to 3/4 level. Same thing happens when I am delivering uber eats. I'll be running around and at a red light, guage rises. I then turn AC off and turn on the heat. This brings guage back to normal range.

I have part 14 and 15 and thinking to replace both. I checked relays and fuses, all good. Fluid level complelety full. After replacing 14 and 15, I am thinking of pressure cleaning the radiator fins.

Other issue associated with the above, is often a very hard start and stalling (after turning car off/hot start), and car running sluggish and "off", even some shifting choppiness.

Yesterday after running around, I popped hood and noticed radiator fan (drivers side) was not spinning. Condensor fan was spinning. Condensor fan turns off appropriately after car is turned off.

thoughts???

Thank you!!!
