Is it necessary to remove the back lid where the speakers sit to install the rear comptech springs on a CL-S 6 spd? Need quick answer because dealer is wants to charge more than what was quoted? from what i know the rear seat need to be moved, but that all.

no, they just need to take out the backseat to make it easier.

How could the dealer not have known what was involved or been able to stand by his quoted price??

Would be easier if you remove the shelf but it's not necessary. If they are doing something to make the job easier for them it should cost you less. I'd go look at the car and make sure they didn't trash the center console cover while taking the seat out. Did they also tell you it was going to take longer?

They initially quoted 6 hours for $465 plus 60 for alignment. Now they are saying that the technician needs to remove the rear panel deck where the speakers are located and need to add two hours. Then they come up with the BS that because my amp is installed to the metal shelf it need to be removed for him to do the spring install/work. I think they are full of crap and just want to charge another coupke hundred dollars. I express my discontent with service personnel and I will find out tomorrow the results.

they trying to screw you. shelf doesn't have to be removed. tell them you'll bring your socket set over there and take those two bolts out yourself in 5 mins. I think it's a 15mm socket. no way whatsoever do they need to take the shelf out. I thought the thing was welded in and not possible to remove. I could be wrong about that thouh

Jeeeeeeez! I think it took me about 3 1/2 hrs to do mine myself and I wasn't really hurrying. Don't think your amp would be in the way unless you removed the seat when you put it in and installed it somewhere that would prevent access to the shock bolts. If you didn't remove the back seat to put your amp in it is not in the way. Is this at an Acura dealer?

yes, it Gunn Acura in San Antonio, TX. After all they backed the initial quote. Car looks much better and handle ten times better than stock car. I need to get rid of the dam Michelin tires. BTW, they are not to much of mod friendly. Because I noted on the dealer paper work, it states, install customer spring followed by No warranty. Its funny, I had my sways and header install at Goodson Acura in Irving, TX and none of that BS was placed on the paper work.

yeah, 4 hours for install is a rip. 6 hours is a f*cking joke.
my shop charged me 2 hours for my springs -- and i don't think it even took them an hour to do it.
