I have an '02 CL-S....70k...auto....AEM CAI...DC Sports Headers...Under-drive pullies...and a B&M Trans cooler...started the car after work for the 21 mile drive home...drove approx 1/4 mile...to the red light...the VSA light and the the engine light came on..(light shaped like the outline of a motor)...and the yellow VSA exclamation point light came on as well....started idling a little rough...pulled away from the light...trans wouldnt shift unless I shifted it in manual mode....and the upshifts were pretty hard....I drove it home to my friends gas station and left it for him to get the codes it threw...acted strange all the way home...at a stop light or sign...leaving it in drive..wouldnt upshift itself without taking it to about 2800 rpm's....shifting it manually worked ok..but with aforementioned hard shifts...the trans downshifted by itself normally...checked the fluid...level full..still very red...not burnt at all...no leaks..I have an extended warranty that expires September 22nd 2008...or...72000 miles..whichever comes first...Comments??...ideas?...all welcome...Thanks fellas...
If you still have the extended warranty, then they should replace it no questions. If they dont, then contact the service manager and talk with him about a goodwill replacement. But they should honor the warranty that you have purchased.

Artbran....I totally agree with you...I cant wait to find out what codes my friend finds...I have AAA and I can get it towed to the nearest Acura Dealership in Wexford Pa...about 6 miles from where I work..my son is in Hawaii..so Ill be driving his '94 Pontiac Bonneville to and from work...lol...wow...what a change that will be...
LOL luxury to err.. american.. Not that I hate american cars, well maybe I do, but thats beside the point.
Either way, good luck with the car. and dont let your friend clear those codes. Just have him read them and that's it. Let Honda/Acura deal with the rest.
But do go into the dealer and dont say a thing about you knowing that your car is beyond the vin number thing...
EDIT: you said its a 2002? I'm pretty sure that ALL of the 2001's, 2002's and most 2003's are covered. So if you have a 2002 like you stated, then you are covered for 107000 miles or 7 years on the tranny.

So wait; my 2001 cl type s is covered for 107,000 or 7 years? My car only has 49,000 miles. I don't get it. I just got the car and i didn't buy it from an acura dealership. I believe i'm the second owner. Am i covered? The seven years is just about over; am i covered till 107,000? Any info appreciated.
fuckupaymee, your good up until 7 years or 109,000 which ever comes first, for you its definitley gonna be the 7 years, however acura has a "goodwill service" which is basically if you have been a loyal customer, have service records etc, they MAY work with you on your problem. where they pay for the tranny (if its the tranny) and you pay labor, or sometimes they pick up the whole tab. several guys on here have gotten lucky with it.
