I am new to AcuraZine and would like to say HELLO to Everyone. My 01 CL-S just started giving me a problem. For the past couple days the car has hesitated to crank over. It does not have a problem starting in the morning but when I m running errands in the mid day the car does not crank over on the first try but then it cranks over on the second try. What does everyone think it could be. All my lights work and all. Please let me know what you think it could be. Thanks ahead of time.

By cranking over do you mean that the car cranks but doesnt start or that you turn the key and you hear nothing but clicking?

 

Yes the car does crank but it will not turn over. When on the second try I crank it, it turns over then. Thanks for the response.

 

Bad starter?

 

 

"crank" and "turn over" both mean that the engine crank shaft is turning. What exactly is happening?

 

oooh. when it was really hot during the day my car wouldn't start b/c I had cracked solder joints on my main fuel relay, causing the pump to not deliver fuel to my engine when the sun made the car interior very hot. Once temp cooled off, main relay worked again and everything started perfect. the good ppl here pointed me to replace main relay and no problems anymore.

Just an idea b/c it seems your problem is dependent on time of day/temperature. Of course this may not be your problem if it only takes 2 times for you to start your car when it's hot....lol eventually mine would never start in the heat and had to wait for sunset to go home from work
