Please don't flame me!
My friend just blew his motor in his RX-8 and is selling misc. stuff to get some money to fix it. He is trying to sell me a "Vortec Cyclone". Here is their website... http://www.vorteccyclone.com/index.html Will this do anything for me if I install in in my CAI? I'm a noob at this stuff so some info and not flaming would be nice! BTW he only wants $20 for it.

Well I'm not buying that shit, but in the vid the guy in the RX-8 is redlining and drifting his car car. He does that on a daily basis, so it's no wonder his engine is shot. I think he has learned his lesson considering he was trying to sell it. I'll post another video of it later if you guys would like. BTW if you watch the entire video you will see someone else getting an expensive ticket for his shenanigans.

Drifting your 8 will NOT blow your engine...
Redlining your 8 will probably lead to a blown engine, but Rennys like redlining to prevent carbon buildup..
Your friend probably didn't properly maintain it. 1 - 1 1/2 quarts of oil between every other fillup, proper cooldown times for the secondary fan and being a shitty driver are probably what did it...
True it's a rotary, which means you'll have your vacuum probs and apex seal probs but they aren't exactly made of glass..We totally brutalized the 8 we got to drive on the track and it held up like a champ..you just can't be a dumbass about maintaining it, its a sports car so you have to treat it like one.

I know drifting won't blow the motor, but sitting and redlining it will. If there wasn't music in the background then you would be able to hear it bouncing off the rev limiter.
I don't think you truly understand know how a rotary works.....
Redlining at LEAST once a day for the Renny (or possible 13b if it won't explode) will open up the exhaust ports and allow the carbon buildup and gunk to be blown out.
It isn't a piston engine, and treating it too gingerly could have adverse effects.
What the problem could be, is flooding of the engine because he doesn't allow proper startup or cooldown times..There are tons of other things that could be the problem but I can assure you redlining it is probably not the main cause.

the factory put the limiter their so it doesnt blow the engine when ppl do stuff like this it wont blow. i think he down shifted one gear to much and over reved it. but too embarrassed to admit it
