Unless it's painted on, you should be able to remove it. Hopefully the paint is not a different shade under the stripe. I've seen that with some cars that have been debadged.

Thanks. Little man is growing up fast.

I would try to take a small area off and see if there is a difference. I had a pin stripe on my green Maxima and took it off without a problem. Give it a shot.

By the way, this thread was listed below. Smitty had some good advice. I'm not sure about using a razor blade.

You can get it off even if it is painted on, I just had to do this on my 01 SMR. It had horrible gold and black pinstripes when I bought it and I used Easy Off oven cleaner to remove the pinstripes.

aren't many pinstriping jobs done in a paintshop? they usually do the pinstriping on the paint before they apply the clearcoats. if this is your case, you'll just have to learn to live with it.

<-- doesn't care much for pinstriping.

Depends on the person that put it on. Sometimes it's painted. Both cars that I have had that had/has pin-striping, it's not painted on.

There was no "factory" striping. It was a dealer option.

I just removed my pinstripe. Get a hair dryer, plastic razor (don't worry, it WILL NOT scratch the paint), and an extinsion cord. Heat up about 1ft, use the plastic razor to lift the corner, and start pulling.

**hint, pull lightly, keep removed stripe at a 90º angle and you can get in a rhythm.

There will be a gummy substance where the stripe was removed, but you can to go Target/Walmart/PepBoys and get a goo remover.

Take that pinstripe off!!!!

Nope, worked well. Just take your time and test on a small area first and you should be fine.

Oh yeah, the other thing I forgot to mention was that it speeds up the process if you heat up the area you are about to remove the pinstripe from before applying the Easy Off.

yea you can still do it, its just a great deal more tedious. And they're right, it won't F up your clearcoat. If you've kept good wax on her, there won't even be any discolorage!
