Pics of your knob.....

Dudes,

I didn't want to hijack fuzzy02CLS's post about removing the 6spd boot, but wanted to see what everyones aftermarket shift knob looks like...

ONLY SHIFT KNOB PICS (buncha queers...) :pfawk:

Here is mine...

Which Razo is that? Polished Aluminum or Chrome?

That's the aluminum knob (part #ra23 148g). I liked it better since it was a darker (almost tinted) shine. The weight of the thing really makes the shift feel more solid. I put the stock one back on when it was real cold (only drawback) and it was WAY too light (also felt like driving an 18 wheeler because of the length)...

As I saw in your other post, you purchased a rubber grommet to hold the stock boot up? Please explain. I have taken the knob and boot out before so I understand how it all looks.

Yeah,

If you look real close at my pic, you can see the grommet holding the boot up. It is a 3/8" inside diameter grommet. (see pic below)... It just fits tightly on the shaft and the chrome ring barely fits over it, making it a tight fit that holds it all together.

I will be happy to send one to you, just pm me an addr... They were at home depot though if you can't wait...

That is really cool of you to offer, but there is a Depot next to my work. I have been looking for a sphere knob and the Razo was perfect. I have never seen one in person though. I'll be ordering tomorrow.

Nice...

Like I said in the other post, it is not quite as elegant as the sleeve/pinion method described, but it has its own pluses:

1) It is really fvcking easy to do... No removing/cutting/whatever of the boot.

2) really cheap ($.04).

3) Adjustable. I like to have about 1" of the shaft showing below the knob, and can change it easily to more or less.

4) You can very easily return it to stock (if you were so inclined).

Good luck send me a pic when you get it...

Yup.... I am hoping the tint will take care of it (wishful thinking). Otherwise, I'll buy a "summer" knob...

I just ordered it from sounddomain.com. The RA23 is the chome plated knob. The pic looked just like yours so I got it. $34 shipped. I have something to look forward to this week.

Yeah i love mine. The feel is great to it and it fits perfectly in my hands. Hey no sex jokes here ok. hehe. And i love when my blue lights shine down at them at night. It lights up the silver metallic part of the knob and it looks great.

Shawn,

Is that the Momo "Race Aluminum + Carbon"
http://www.tuneshops.com/order-Auto~...nob-1-1808.htm

or the "Shot Carbon Aluminum Shift Knob"?
http://www.tuneshops.com/order-Auto~...nob-1-5105.htm

I like the look of it.....is it heavy like devnull's Razo? I liked the feel of the weight of his, but wanted something with a different look.

It’s this one: MOMO Shot Black Real Carbon Shift Knob

I got mine here: http://www.ltbmotorsport.com/

It’s a few bucks cheaper then the link you provided and it looks like they’re running a FREE SHIPPING deal right now.
http://www.ltbmotorsport.com/shotblaccar.html

Yea, it’s pretty SOLID and it’s got some weight to it unlike the leather covered plastic of the factory knob.

Question for you guys with the Momo knob & boot. How did you get your knob to screw into top of the boot? For the life of me I could not figure out how to do it. As you can see in the pic below, my boot is just resting against the bottom of the knob. What am I doing wrong? An yes, it is quite possible that I'm being an idiot. :o

It looks like you forgot to remove the trim ring.
You need to UNSCREW that silver ring on there. It isn’t used when you have the MOMO boot.
The KNOB will screw right onto the boot then.

I have the same setup as Shawn, but have my boot pulled tighter. Yute try twisting it on in the opposite direction. I think it is opposite of what i expected.

No, I'm not THAT dumb. If I screw the knob into the boot, it hides the bolts that I need to tighten in order to secure the knob into place. Does that make more sense? It's just that I can't figure out how to tighten the knob if I screw it into the boot. Maybe you guys don't have to tighten those bolts?

Sorry…..Your picture looks like the trim ring is still on there.

You need to tighten those three setscrews and join the knob/boot BEFORE the lower edge of the boot is attached to the console.
After tightening them, you spin the boot around the knob to attach it, then attach the boot to the console.

Thanks Shawn, I think I know what I need to do. The trim ring is on there in the pic, I put it back on when I got to the point of utter confusion. :o

Sorry for the semi-hijack guys.

Damn, this thread makes me want a 6 speed even more...

Today at the dealer the service guy was looking for my car for like 15 minutes (turns out it was parked 20 feet behind me, even tho he told me that it wasn't mine...) and i was secretly hoping it had been lost so i could say "give me a 6 speed and i won't murder you"
