Educated guess in the 2-3 grand range. (a lot depends on where you go to get your car painted cause you can go to "cheap o " body shop and get it done for about 200 bucks but if you do that to something other than a beater your a fool.(really on a fairly new Acura ) I know for a quality paint job(grant it this price is to pull a couple dings) it was 4-5 grand for a NICE look like new paint job.

Painting a car is insanely expensive. I agree with Water-S on the numbers.

but was that for the whole car? I'm only looking at the front bumper and the hood.

I'm no painting expert, but this is how I understand it's done...

You want the hood and front bumper painted. Unfortunately, the shop just won't, or SHOULDN'T paint just those areas. They have to "blend" the newly painted areas into the old. So, they'd have to go into the quater panels, probably the doors as well. So, look at it as they're painting half the car. They do this so that the paint matches on the whole car.

A GOOD paint job isn't cheap. Doing work like what you want done, would cost me probably $2500+ or so at the shop I'd go to.

Get an estimate and see. I'm curous to what it'd really cost.

I scraped up my rear left door real bad in December, and I had to have it repaired. They removed a small dent, and repainted/blended the entire rear door/quater panel and part of the roof too. They originally quoted me almost $1000 to fix/repaint it, but I was able to talk them down to $750...

The front hood/bumper is a larger area, I'm not sure how much they would need to blend too, but I would imagine it should cost you at least $2000 from a good body shop.

BTW- This was using factory paint (Nighthawk Black Pearl), and clearcoating too... The people I talked to knew what they were doing and were able to explain the entire painting/clearcoating process. Make sure you goto a place that has the exact same paint and does their clearcoating process correctly. I should take around a week or so to do the painting/clear coating and to allow for proper cure time. I was told that there are some companies that cut corners with the clearcoating process and instead of allowing it to air cure, they use a heating system to quickly cure the outside layer of the clearcoat ... However the remaining layers of the paint/clearcoat underneath still haven't had the chance to fully cure yet and so you need to wait a good week or two before you can wax the area and such.

It should n't cost $2000.00 just to do the hood and bumber, well maybe in CA. In dallas i had my Trunk repained at the lexus dealer that did my lexus when i had an accident. and they did an excellent job. the only place i haven't to take a car back because of paint and flaws or matching. And my mom wrecks a car almost every year.

Cost Me $500 for them to repaint my trunk and it looks better than stock paint( Matches perfect) and this is at a Lexus dealer, and was rated the one of the best body shop in dallas.

Good luck! may be its just cheaper in dallas.

They shouldn't just use (Night hawk black) from honda they should match your car.

What do you think it would cost to repaint the trunk, hood and top of the car? Am considering having Acura repaint those based on some paint defects and some parts defects (dimples and dirt underneath paint). Like a thread I posted earlier, if I can live with those defects, they may give me some free service (I asked for about $600-$700 worth of dealer service/maintenance)...or that much in accessories or a $1000 voucher towards my next purchase (whenever that will be)....or they will repaint.

What do you think? Taking car in tomorrow morning.

I had my old ford truck painted black, & clear coated from a good body shop. Had the hood, roof, & wiper cowl painted & that was about $600. No need for blending if you are painting the hood, & bumper. Both are single pieces. Black paint seems cheaper then any other color.
