Oven method of clearing headlights ?

I read soopas how to and he said to put the headlights on a damp towel in the oven. Do you put the headlights on a cookies sheet or directly on the rack on a damp towel? Im guessing a cookie sheet but i would like to make sure. Whats peoples opinion on the best silicone to use? Hondabond or aftermarket?

i don't think the silicone is such a big deal. just buy one you think will work. as for the oven. just put a damp towel. it doesn't turn that hot to bur anything... it barely melts the glue. i did this 2 days ago. also when apply glue i'd think that applying too much is better than not enough. you might want to use those clamps as pictured in soopa's instructions. its hard to hold one headlight down while it dries since it takes awhile... hours....

i dont have clamps so i may have to go get some. So put it directly in the oven on just a damp towel, no cookie sheet?

nope u dont need it..... for silicone, people recommend rtv silicone if i remember right..... follow the instructions... as for the old silicone, u can remove it or reuse it... of course if u remove it u add more silicone.... i removed it, not sure if that was a great idea.... but its not a big deal if u have condensation i think its simple enough to redo if u eff up... good luck =D

id use the cookie sheet...using a damp towel gets moisture in the light...i know ur gonna take it apart but theres a slight chance for moisture to lurk around...i actually just line the bottom rack with heavy duty aluminum foil and that works well...good luck...i use the rtv clear silicone sealant...and dont be shy with it ur gonna need a good amount to hit every nook and cranny
