The chassis is, without a doubt better along with the other performance oriented features. But I would be willing to wager that 90% of those purchasing the vehicle will not use 80% of its capability thus negating any benefit other than bragging rights. But that point is really irrelevant here and meant for a different topic. BTW, LED lamps are irrelevant to 95% of buyers as is pop-up Navi (which IMO, looks terrible in this application, but that is just my opinion).

I would disagree with the comment on interior room unless you are referring only to people on this and other enthusiast forums. People buy the 350Z when they don't care about room. But this is a passenger vehicle as such needs to haul people and cargo. If I didn't need to worry about cargo or passenger room I would be driving something else (//M Coupe or Roadster ). But decent room in a coupe package was a requirement for me so the CL-S fit the bill well.

Yea, I have noticed the trend in stereo equipment, etc. but it still does not appeal to me. I guess I am old enough to remember when that became old looking and recall the '86 300Z with a flat metal surface for the interior. I also had a late '70's (hand-me-down) Phillips amp and pre-amp for a home stereo (excellent equipment and heavy as hell) that looks similar to the current interior of the G35C.

Car talk was probably created to talk about cars, so the G35c, 350z, and other flavors of the week will continue to be talked about there.

If a 2nd gen forum was created, those of use who don't want to read about who traded what for what, can steer clear of "car talk" and hang out in the new 2 gen only forum.

I think it was shawn that first suggested that the mods create an "Aegean Blue 6spd" forum (I'm partial to San Mario Red, myself), but maybe a new Second Gen "only" forum isn't a bad idea.

I posted ONE topic. First one in months. I can't be responsible for the others. I'm attempting to defend other G35/Z owners who are constantly being attacked on this forum. It's funny how some say it is the other way around. I see no evidence of this at all.

What is stupid about finding out who/how many people on this forum that used to have CL's now have Z's? You keep saying it's stupid, yet I don't hear any valid reasoning whatsoever to support that remark. As a former CL owner and current Z owner I am interested. Where else could I get such information? I'd like to hear what people like/dislike about their Z's as compared to their CL's because I feel I would get an unbiased opinion from them. I was planning on doing this via PM so you sensitive little bastards don't get your tampon strings all tied in a knot. I also plan on modding my Z quite a bit and wanted to run some mods by a few folks here (that I trust) to get their opinions.

But honestly, I know comparisons betwen previously owned vehicles and curent vehicles is natural. But as for a direct comparison, there is none. They are two non-market competing vehicles. The G35C is a different story though.

I bought my CL back in Oct. 2000 and joined this forum in Feb. 2001. I don't post a lot like most of you. The reason I joined this forum is to learn more about CL and to help new comers to answer their questions about their CL. This forum, for the past several months, has deviated drastically from what I was accustomed to in the past. Must less enthusiasm and most of the time just a lot of BS, which I find a boring to say the least. I probably will spend even less time in this forum in the future.

Yes, I find it appalling to have members bashing CL after they have traded theirCL MY CL is not a perfect car but I am satisfied with it. Knock on wood that I don't have the tranny problems like some members, although I do have my share of rattling and brake issues but they were fixed by PAA.

I sincerely hope this forum will once again be the place to teach and to learn, and a fun place for all of us. It is really up to us to maintain this culture. Those who don't fit in should really conform or leave this forum My $0.02 worth

Please help me understand why my thread was such a big deal for all you guys. I just don't see it. I didn't post it in ramblings because it dealt with a car. Car talk seemed more appropriate. The LAST thing on my mind when I posted it was this violent response. I swear it wasn't intended to upset anyone...and I'm still not sure how it did. Anyone who knows me here knows that I don't go around bashing other people's rides unless i'm just kidding around. Somebody please explain to me why that thread upset so many people.

 

I don't post much at all but I really like this forum the way it used to be. This used to be fun place where we exchange information and ideas of our CL. Lately, some people who don't own CL are creating frictions with CL owners and this is not healthy. I, for one, find it boring and inmature. Serious arguments have erupted, just take a look at the freaking fights in the forum.

I feel, Soopa, you should seriously consider to lock out some members permanently before it gets worse. Like I said before, this used to be fun place, but it is no longer so. I find the forum to be very much less interesting compared to previous years. How did we allow it to degenerate to this state To those who care about this forum, let's clean up our act and make this place a fun place once again.

I think it goes along with "the straw that broke the camels back". Lately here it "seems" like there have been more posts about G35's and 350Z's than about CL's. Every day: "I traded in for a 'whatever'", or "I test-drove a 'whatever'". If they had something to do with some way I could improve my Acura-CL Type-S then it would be great, but it's beginning to appear that www.acura-cl.com is turning into an advertisement for other cars, and I don't come here for that. People interested in the CL set up and maintain this site (including a couple of sponsors?), and I think it should therefore contain information relevant to the CL..

 

Personally I haven't found too many people talking unreasonable trash (except maybe torque/rev-aholic but I believe that he is banned now). I am comfortable with people arguing if they have valid things to say. I also hear what tdtsai is saying, and if it is ruining his experience then that really sux... but a difference of opinions isn't always an argument IMO. The only time I see stupid sh!t all the time is in the racing forum (or the off topic forum) but you sort of have to expect it there.

maybe I am not reading the same threads. As Scrib said...name names. If that person cosistantly just hangs out here to bitch and not add anything to the forum then boot him. The same should go for people who do drive a CL and ruin the forum for others. Just my 2 cents.

 

Members with older cars may be leaving for other cars for whatever reasons, but there's still some of us newer members joining, which makes sense - people change cars at whatever rate suits them. For one, I've enjoyed the discussions on the board. If I have questions I'm not going to care too much if it's a current or a past owner with ideas they'd like to share. As a matter of fact, I'd probably get better info from someone who owned the car a few years and sold it than from someone who just bought it.

I willingly chose the CLS6 over the G35C6 and 350Z, but to those who had different wants/needs and switched to another car, congrats and enjoy! I haven't seen any CL hating yet, and this seems like a good group of folks to discuss the latest and greatest new models with.

If it gets too crazy, like if threads show up talking about how to mod a non-CL, that would be inappropriate for a CL board. Until then, this is car talk, let's talk about cars.

I don't think ban is the way to go. I do feel that if indeed, as I beleive, the purpose of this board is to help Acura-CL owners better enjoy their rides; then a 'statement of purpose' should be posted. And if a post shows up that does not conform to that it should either be deleted or moved to another location. YMMV

 

The point isn't that people are buying other cars and posting it, it's the sheer volume. Looking now, 7 of the top 8 posts involve the 350z or G35. A couple here and there is cool, and I haven't seen any hating on the CL, but we also can't let the CL board get overrun.

There's already a 1st gen CL forum, why not create a 2nd gen CL forum? CL owners who want to chat about their cars can go there, and car enthusiests can stay in car talk and talk about cars. It seems like a good group of folks here as is, knowlegeable and with reasonable opinions. I'd hate to ban any of them and lose out on their contributions simply because they moved on to a different automobile.

So I'm figuring this out here...unbeknownst to me, people were getting annoyed at all the Z/g35 posts, then right when there was a bunch of them I happened to post my headcount thread, the first Z related thread from me in many months. So everyone jumped all over me. Well sorry but that's not fair. I didn't post all those other threads, and I didn't hate on the CL (I don't think anyone did to be perfecty honest).

So it's kind of like me walking into a bar in LA where there was just a fight that had been broken up between Raiders fans and rowdy trouble making Eagles fans which were promplty ejected from the bar...and I then unwittingly walk in said bar with my Eagles hat and Jersey on to get a drink, and get beaten senseless. Doesn't seem fair does it?

btw...the eagles fans(G35/Z owners) here weren't being rowdy at all...there were just alot of em hanging around at one time.
