I've bought this pulley from ebay and I have read some threads regarding it's installation. Still I have some question about this pulley. Aside from the accessory belts, do I need to change the timing belt also when I install it or could I still use the one that I have on the car? My car only has 67,xxx miles on it.

Talk to Excelerate about the belts. You'll need different ones...but all aside, wait till fuzzy comes in here. He should be able to help you to because he has an Ebay crank pulley as well.

I know that the two crank belts need to be changed.

Yeah just the belts, nothing else needs to be done. The timing belt is inside the engine. You can use the same recommended Gates belts that UR gives

yea or you could get them from: autozone, pep boys, o'reileys, etc. and NOT have to wait

 

No one had gates belts locally.

 

Just take those belt numbers to your local parts store and the should (key word "SHOULD") be able to cross reference them to their brands that they carry.

NONE had them locally at least the parts stores here in vegas. I called n no one had them.

 

you would think it would be that simple but the people at teh parts store are complete idiots... plus I wanted the gates belts.

 

I had them change to numbers over at Checkers, for the Goodyear Gator Back belts.

Hey did you go to School in Vegas. That's were I grew up.

 

I went to checkers as a matter of fact but no gates belts but I never bothered to check for the goodyear's...No sir, grew up and went to school in nor cal.

 

I think the Goodyears were the best one's they had. Not to pricey either.

 

for you guys that did the pulley install yourself how did you torque the crank bolt without having the pulley spin? I am getting ready to take it off now.

 

I have impact gun but no air comp. so I guess scratch the DIY until I get my compressor.

there's two options. a strong air compressed tool or pulley removal tool below.
you have to get the pulley removal tool from powerbuilt... it's like $35 and there's videos online on how to do it. i thought i was getting a deal on these option pulleys at 25 but looks like will have to spend a little more on the installation.

 

My option Pulley is in the mail should be here on the 5th...Is there a DIY anywhere?
I'm gonna have one of the mechanics at my JOB do it but really would like a step by step DIY to show him..He replaced pulleyes b4 but never on a acura!

 

got my pulley yesterday. Gonna wait till I do my tb and wp to put it on. The pulley appears to be really high quality for the small price I paid for it.

 

what Goodyear gatorback belt sizes do you need for the option pulley. I'm installing mine on monday and I need to get all the parts?

SO i moved to anouther DLR that does everything by the book. We get charged $35 a hour for labor cuz we work there. The labor they say on a V6 saturn vue 2006 (which is a 3.5 honda motor) is 2.5 hours, that sounds HIgh. I though it was a 1 hour job at most..
Does anyone how many hours ACURA or HONDA charges to replace a crank pulley and belts? I though it would be 1 hour maybee 1.5 at most ..I might be wrong. Any tech know the hours they do this job for or has anyone had it done at a DLR B4?

The crank pulley can be swapped out in less than 30 minutes with the right tools. That's highway robbery.

 

30 min! I think it will take me at least an hour or two but I have never done it though

 

I know it can but they go by the book and the book for GM says 2.5 hours to change a crank pulley on a Vue v6. If anyone know how much TIME acura charges to do a crank pulley that would be great. The tech knows its gonna be less then a hour but the BOOK says 2.5 that why I am tring to find out what Acura charges Time wise to do this.

acura charges 1.5 hrs for the pulley install. I asked them in person today. and I know the manager of the dealership.

NOT gonna pay them to do nothing for 45mins on my car.. SEE YEA.. i'll be more than happy to get reacquainted with the driveway for that price 150CAD.

 

I cant get the bolt off tried for a good 2 hours!!!! tried using the starter method the breaker bar and impact wrench. I dont know what else to do any suggestions?

 

The tech said all he used was the impact gun and it came off mine pretty easy!

 

I cant get my impact wrench to get any torque. Make me mad because I know it has more than enough torque to get this thing off

 

You tried blipping the starter and it didnt work?

Get the pulley tool and a long pipe. Im really surprised the starter method didnt work. I havent seen it not work.

As for your impact gun not working im not surprised. Most wont. Especially if your using a 25-30 gallon compressor and a 1/4 hose.
